Ingood by Olga: Innovative broccoli extract with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cellular protection action
13 May 2024 | Ingood by Olga
The French plant ingredient producer Ingood by Olga’s Sulfodyne product is sulforaphane, an isothiocyanate naturally found in cruciferous plants such as broccoli. Claire Boniface, Ingood by Olga’s marketing and communication manager, discusses the benefits of the company’s Sulfodyne, the only broccoli seed extract with glucoraphanin and sulforaphane currently on the market. She highlights the product’s three main properties — antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cellular protection — as well as how it may strengthen immunity, women’s and joint health, while regulating glucose levels.
Hello, everyone.
This is Milana for Nutrition Insights.
Today I'm joined by Claire, who is the marketing and the communication manager at IU by Olga.
Claire, could you tell us a bit about the company and your mission?
Yes, yes, I'm Clabonifaz, marketing and communications manager at Ingut Bioga, and today I'm here to talk about our health ingredients sulfudine, to introduce Ingut Bioga.
It is a business unit dedicated to developing, producing and selling the of the Olga Group, a family owned and independent food company for 3 generations based in Brittany, and we are driven every day by our purpose to offer the best of our materials in respect of our ecosystem and with boldness.
That's why we produce and offer plant-based ingredients for nutraceutical, nutrition, and food markets.
Great.
And could you tell us a bit about your new product, Sulfudyne, and how does it differ from other similar products on the market?
OK, so sulfoine, before to understand the advantages, I have to explain it quickly.
What is the sulfurrafan?
It's a compound in sulfodine.
Sulfurrafan is a compound found in broccoli, and it's derived from the hydrolysis of its precursor.
Glucoafenin by an enzyme called mirosinase.
It was discovered in the 90s by Paul Talali from Johns Hopkins University and since its discovery, research on sulfafan has exploded, as evidenced by numerous published scientific articles.
At Gunbaelga, we really want to offer natural and effective solutions that are useful to everyone.
That's why we set ourselves the challenge of developing an ingredient directly detected in active and stable sulfan.
It's a really first on the market because there are several products, broccoli extracts on the market, and most of them contain glucoapanine.
The precursor are also named sulfurrahane glucosinolate, and glucoaffe is inactive in this form.
So, thanks to 20 years of research, we have done the best in broccoli and we have succeeded in stabilizing natural sulfurraan from European broccoli seeds through an innovative and patented encapsulation process.
So sulfide is really the only ingredient from vocal acid extract that provides the active and stable sulfurrahane and with 5% titration, which is the really highest on the global market.
It is protected by two international patents, and sulfodine is a solution for durability 7 times higher than other grococts providing glucoafeine.
Indeed, studies have shown that glucoafanine only allows a durability of 10% in sulfurrafan when sulfurdine offers an average of durability of 70% in sulfurrafan.
So more specifically based on this expected amounts assimilated into the body.
10 mg of sulfurrafan is equivalent to approximately 1750 mg of pocolycid extract with glucoafine in comparison to nearly 285 mg of broccolicidex with our ingredient sulfodin.
Therefore, it also means that you need far less sulfodine ingredients than any other competitor in a supplement matrix.
That's super interesting, and could you discuss what are some of the health benefits associated with the product?
Yes, of course, sulfurfan has 3 main mechanisms of action which have been studied for years and understood by the scientific community.
So it has an antioxidant activity with the activation of NRF2 expression, an anti-inflammatory activity.
It reduces inflammation by androcin NFKB inhibition and NRF2 expression and a cellular protection activity.
So these three main mechanisms of action explain the wide range of health benefits of sulfodine.
The first one is detox, detox because sulfodine can help to eliminate toxins from the body to prevent further health complications and to improve general wellness thanks to its actions on phase 1 and phase 2 enzymes involved in the detox process and on antioxidant enzymes involved in the reduction of oxidative stress.
2 is in joints.
Due to aging and chronic inflammation, people can be concerned by variable degrees of pain accompanied by stiffness, swelling, and loss of joint function.
And in case of joint pain, osteoarthritis, or rheumatoid arthritis, sing can help to reduce the inflammation, the cartilage, and bone damage, and of course joint pain.
The 3 health benefits is women's health.
Women's health is very large and encompasses several symptoms, and some of these conditions are linked by an uncontrolled inflammation process.
And the role of turafe notably through the activation of NRF2 expression is gaining many interest in the management of some women's health issues like endometriosis or for example in premon syndrome.
The 4 is immunity.
Street fooding can play a role in boosting the immune system both in the preventive phase and in the acute phase by enhancing the body's natural defense mechanisms like antibody production enhancement, phagocytic activity increase, and its antiviral activity.
And the last health benefit is glucose regulation.
So control of blood glucose is very crucial to prevent and delay diabetes, and sulfodine can help to reduce insulin resistance, enhance glucose transport, and improve blood glucose levels.
However I was saying, sulfur activates NRH2 expression, which activation was found to prevent the development of diabetes and its complications.
So many benefits.
So nice.
And could you tell us a bit how consumers might want to incorporate this product into their daily lives?
Sulfate can be incorporated in three galenic derived forms in capsules, tablets, and powder, for example, in super green drink, and the recommended dose is between 100 to 400 mg per day according to the health benefits and the equivalent of 5 to 20 mg of table sulfur.
Nice.
And what demographics would you say that this product is most targeted towards?
Yeah, there are different types of population that could be concerned by the benefits of sulfoine.
For detox, it could be for women, for beauty neutral cosmetics.
It could be for athletes for detox purposes, and also for adults and seniors for cell protection and prevention of cell aging.
For joints, it could be for athletes, seniors, or overweight with joint pain or in case of.
Osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis for women's health, it could be for women with syndrome premenstrual or endometriosis.
For humanities it could be for all consumers who want to boost their immunity in preventive or acute phase and more specifically against the virus.
And the last for glucose regulation, this could be for people for glucose management or prediabetics to prevent the development of diabetes.
Thank you so much.
