Frutarom BU Health has launched its new superberry ingredient, Incaberrix. The water-soluble extract, rich in phytonutrients, is prepared from the ancient Andean physalis fruit (Physalis peruviana), also known as Inca berry, Cape gooseberry or golden berry. Holger Riemensperger, the general manager of Frutarom’s global health business, said: “We specifically wanted to develop our portfolio into the functional beverage area. There are a lot of superberries out there but many don’t have a long shelf life, so we felt there was a need for a new product. Incaberrix was developed when we looked at the market needs."
