Nature’s Bounty reveals science behind new Age-Defying Skin Renewal beauty supplement
Key takeaways
- Nature’s Bounty launched an ingestible supplement with oral ceramides and green tea extract to target the root causes of skin aging.
- Clinical studies on the formula’s ceramides show visible improvements in skin hydration, elasticity, and wrinkles within 30 days.
- The launch reflects an industry shift toward pairing topical products with supplements to protect the skin barrier from within.

Expanding its beauty-from-within category, Nature’s Bounty has launched Age-Defying Skin Renewal, formulated with clinically studied oral ceramides to reinforce the skin barrier and green tea extract to help fight free radicals in the body.
The skin-hydrating supplement taps into maturing consumer awareness around ingestible solutions to tackle the root causes of surface aging.
Next to hydration, the supplement is designed to target four key signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles, elasticity, texture, and the skin barrier, claiming to support visible results in 30 days. It follows the brand’s launch of Ultra Collagen Booster in 2025.
Nutrition Insight speaks to Alyssa Zembroski, Ph.D., medical affairs manager at Nature’s Bounty, about the scientific evidence behind ingestible ceramides as well as the shift in consumer awareness toward skin barrier support from within.

“Similar to their benefits in topical products, oral ceramides also nourish and strengthen the skin barrier, promoting skin hydration,” she highlights. “Clinical studies with oral ceramides have shown improvements in skin hydration and appearance, including elasticity, smoothness, and facial wrinkles in as little as 30 days.”
Focus on skin barrier health
The decline in collagen and ceramides contributes to the signs of aging skin, Zembroski notes. “Ceramides provide additional support to the skin barrier to help lock in moisture, which helps improve skin texture, elasticity, and the appearance of wrinkles. These products complement each other by working in two different ways to support skin health.”

As such, Zembroski observes that ingestible beauty products are shifting away from surface-level outcomes, like glowing skin, toward root-case and structural skin support, including renewal, resilience, and healthy aging.
“Skin is the largest organ of the body, which is why skin barrier health is so important,” she notes. “The skin interacts with and is exposed to environmental stressors. This is why we include green tea extract in Nature’s Bounty Age-Defying Skin Renewal supplement.”
“Green tea extract provides skin-loving antioxidants to help fight free radicals. Free radicals can contribute to oxidative stress and the premature aging of cells. Combining ingredients with different functions in skin health — antioxidants and hydration — is a key part of supporting a healthy skin barrier.”
Future of beauty nutrition
Consumers increasingly pair supplements with topical products. Zembroski explains how this “inside-out” approach is shaping the future of beauty nutrition.
“Dietary supplements play a unique role as they are able to support beauty outcomes at the cellular or systemic level,” she notes. “The focus is moving toward addressing the root cause of skin changes, and maintaining skin structure and resilience during healthy aging. Supplements and topical products work in parallel as they address different aspects of skin health.”
Nutrition Insight previously caught up with industry experts from Lubrizol Life Science, Rousselot, Balchem, and ADM to discuss the latest trends in ingestible skin care, with new ingredient science spanning from the gut-skin axis to collagen innovation.
“The Nature’s Bounty brand has a long history – more than 50 years, in fact — of delivering science-backed nutritional supplements,” Zembroski notes.
“Our dedicated Medical Affairs team stays up to date on the latest nutrition science and branded ingredients and collaborates with our Innovation team to identify gold standard clinical studies — randomized controlled trials — on ingredients we use in our Nature’s Bounty products. These studies provide the evidence that retailers and consumers are looking for in their products to support meaningful beauty benefits.”
