Gencor marries Evolva’s Veri-te resveratrol and Pharmako’s LipiSperse technology in VeriSperse launch
08 Oct 2020 --- Botanical ingredient supplier Gencor has introduced VeriSperse to its portfolio. The resveratrol powder is developed using Evolva’s Veri-te resveratrol and Pharmako Biotechnologies’ LipiSperse technology to overcome bioavailability limitations.
Following a four-part clinical study series called Resveratrol Supporting Healthy Aging in Women (RESHAW), Gencor states it now feels “even more confident” in the ability of the resveratrol.
“In marrying Veri-te and LipiSperse technologies, VeriSperse provides a superior resveratrol that can support healthy aging and improved quality of life for women suffering the symptoms of menopause,” explains Chase Shyroc, vice president of sales and business development for Gencor.
According to the company, VeriSperse can be used in pharma and nutraceutical applications, as well as dietary supplements and F&B applications. It’s also suitable for cosmetic, antibacterial and veterinary use.
Increasing bioavailability and efficacy
Resveratrol is a polyphenol that works on a cellular level to support healthy aging. It is normally limited by its preference for aqueous environments.
increase bioavailability and functionality of lipophilic ingredients.
VeriSperse overcomes this limitation by utilizing LipiSperse technology, developed by Pharmako Biotechnologies. The cold-water dispersible delivery system helpsThis is particularly important, as industry experts have previously shared with NutritionInsight that bioavailability difficulties can make or break ingredient deveopment.
Creating a repulsion between the powder surface of VeriSperse and a solution to establish an equilibrium, the LipiSperse technology prevents particle agglomeration or aggregation. It consequently allows the resveratrol to easily disperse in water.
This dispersion provides for both greater absorption and the overall efficacy of the Veri-te resveratrol. Resveratrol bioavailability can ultimately be increased up to two to three times greater, says Gencor.
Revving up resveratrol
Earlier this year, Evolva shared with NutritionInsight that resveratrol synergies would become the “next big thing” in the nutrition industry.
“We strongly believe that VeriSperse resveratrol and our new-for-2020 product Veri-te Aqua will gain impressive traction in the functional beverage industry,” Marcia da Silva Pinto, technical sales and customer support manager at Evolva, shared at the time.
In July, NutritionInsight spoke with Evolva’s global vice president for health ingredients Clare Panchoo in a video interview on how its resveratrol products have seen a “considerable increase in growth and demand” throughout 2020.
