Botanical pain relief: Study finds Arjuna Natural’s blend effective at half dosage
19 Oct 2022 --- Arjuna Natural’s botanical blend, Rhuleave-K, has been found as equally effective at relieving pain at a low dosage. This is according to the third study on Rhuleave-K that revealed the ingredient still functions at 500 mg, half that of the two previous studies.
The earliest investigations showed that combining extracts of frankincense (Boswellia serrata) and turmeric (Curcuma longa) relieved acute musculoskeletal pain after exercise, exhibiting a potent cumulative pain-relieving effect at 1,000 mg.
“Until now, there has been little competition in the botanical segment as there are no clinically proven fast-acting analgesic agents. Rhuleave-K is set to change this. This will be a big boon to millions of customers looking for a natural solution for acute pain relief,” Dr. Benny Antony, joint managing director at Arjuna Natural, tells NutritionInsight.
Considering the impact the botanical could have on the industry and its consumers, Antony notes: “There is a big market for pain medications and paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are ruling the space. Rhuleave-K is pioneering a first-of-its-kind natural botanical solution for rapid pain relief.”
Reducing pain intensity and duration
The most recent study, which was a prospective randomized, double-blind study with 40 participants and was published in June 2022 in the Journal of Dental and Medical Sciences, compared the effects of a single 500 mg dose of Rhuleave-K standardized curcuminoids and acetyl ketoboswellic acid to a placebo.
The findings revealed that Rhuleave-K significantly reduced pain intensity (by 62%) and provided overall pain alleviation that was 84% better than a placebo. The McGill short-form questionnaire measured the quality of pain alleviation and found a 43% improvement over the placebo.
“The various human clinical studies done with Rhuleave-K make it a forerunner in the natural pain relief segment. All the initial reviews point toward Rhuleave-K being a superseller in the pain and inflammation category,” says Antony.
The researchers concluded that Rhuleave-K exhibited considerable and cumulative pain-relieving effects at a dose of 500 mg.
The main result was the sum of total pain relief assessed by the categorical pain relief scale every 30 minutes during six hours and the difference in pain intensity assessed by the Numerical Rating Scale at six hours.
“Rhuleave-K is the result of five years of intense research, implementing the Speed technology process we developed, which is critical to the fast pain relief action,” Antony continues.
Alternative to pain relief medication?
According to the company, joint and tendon pain is one of the most common reasons people seek health and medical professionals.
People who experience such pain – whether it is brought on by overexertion, an injury or inflammation – usually turn to over-the-counter analgesics like aspirin or paracetamol. However, some medications can have risks and undesirable side effects despite being typically safe.
Consumers are increasingly looking for more natural solutions to suit their physical health concerns, the company details.
“Even though there is a big demand, people shy away from botanicals for acute pain relief due to its long onset of analgesia. Rhuleave-K, due to its specific composition and proprietary Speed technology process, helps the actives to reach areas of injury much faster, thus providing fast pain relief,” says Antony.
“We are extrapolating the benefits of Rhuleave-K into other areas of pain involving acute inflammation and pain and clinically evaluating such acute pain conditions requiring fast natural pain relief support. This will open up and widen the application of Rhuleave-K into areas involving pain and inflammation.”
“To our knowledge, Rhuleave-K – crafted through Arjuna’s proprietary Speed technology process – is clinically documented to offer fast pain relief in acute musculoskeletal pain and pain following exercise.”
Previous studies on Rhuleave-K
A multicenter study utilizing Rhuleave-K 1000 mg in patients with acute musculoskeletal pain was published in 2020 with 88 subjects and then repeated in March 2022 with 232 people.
This study concluded that Rhuleave-K is equally beneficial for treating musculoskeletal pain throughout the body, including the head, neck and upper and lower limbs.
According to Arjuna Natural, its researchers are already investigating other types of pain, such as headaches, that may benefit from the powerful, long-lasting relief Rhuleave-K provides.
