Neuroepigenetics: Exploring the role of B vitamins and SAMe in cognition and DNA methylation
23 Jan 2026 | Sapienza University of Rome
Dr. Andrea Fuso discusses his research on brain health and DNA methylation. The neuroepigenetics professor at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, and long-term research partner of Gnosis by Lesaffre, explains how one-carbon metabolism influences brain function by regulating neurotransmitter synthesis and gene expression. Disruption of this metabolism can lead to cognitive decline, particularly in patients with dementia. Fuso also highlights the importance of B vitamins and S-Adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) in supporting methylation and cognitive health.
