Vitafoods India 2026 preview: Aker BioMarine expands omega-3 presence in India

At next month’s Vitafoods India trade show (Feb 11–13), Aker BioMarine will showcase its sustainable marine-based nutrition and highlight its expanding presence in the country as a “new chapter of growth.” The company details its investments in local leadership and product innovations designed to meet the evolving needs of Indian consumers and nutraceutical brands. 

Additionally, Aker BioMarine will highlight its new distribution partnership with G.C. Chemie Pharmie to expand access to its krill oil and algae-derived DHA ingredients across the country.

Distribution partnership

Indian healthcare company G.C. Chemie Pharmie operates in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, functional food, and biopharmaceutical sectors. It will leverage its pan-India distribution network and technical capabilities to make Aker BioMarine’s ingredients accessible to local manufacturers and brand owners.

The Norway-based company states that the partnership reflects a “shared commitment to evidence-based nutrition” and taps into the growing demand for clinically substantiated health solutions in India.

Additionally, Aker BioMarine has appointed Hidayat Ali as country director of India as part of its expansion strategy. Ali will lead commercial growth and market development, bringing experience in building and scaling specialty ingredient businesses across pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.

Omega-3 innovations

Aker BioMarine will introduce Revervia at Vitafoods India 2026. The company notes that this high-concentration, algae-based docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) solution helps meet the needs of Indian consumers and customers.

The ingredient’s high DHA levels are produced through natural fermentation. As such, Aker BioMarine positions this plant-based ingredient as a flexible solution aligned with India’s needs for a vegetarian omega-3 ingredient, backed by full-service expertise from formulation to market launch.

Revervia supports brain, eye, maternal, and fetal health. Its minimal taste and smell make it “well-suited” for capsules, powders, and various functional formats, states Aker BioMarine.

The company launched Revervia to address growing demand and environmental concerns around krill-based omega-3 supplements. Last year, Nutrition Insight met with its CEO to discuss its strategies for balancing ocean health and global nutrition demands for omega-3s.

At Vitafoods India booth #C08, Aker BioMarine will also highlight Superba Krill oil, designed to support healthy aging. This oil is naturally rich in omega-3 DHA and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), choline, and astaxanthin.

Moreover, the company highlights Superba Krill oil’s phospholipid advantage, touting it as one of the most bioavailable forms of omega-3 available, which supports nutrient absorption and “cellular-level benefits.”

According to the supplier, a growing body of scientific evidence demonstrates the benefits of Superba Krill oil in cellular, brain, and joint health, which it states are key focus areas for Indian consumers seeking long-term wellness and vitality.
