Prinova to distribute Compound Solutions’ gut health ingredients in Europe

14 Jun 2021 --- Prinova will become the exclusive European distributor of seven of US-based Compound Solutions’ main ingredients. They include postbiotic CoreBiome and new gut health solution, GoBiome, which tap into the growing demand for ingredients for the microbiome.

“With awareness of the importance of the microbiome at an all-time high, we’re particularly excited to be making these new digestive health solutions available to consumers in Europe,” says Tony Gay, chief technician of nutrition at Prinova Europe.

He tells NutritionInsight that consumers are aware of the links of a healthy gut and many other aspects of wellbeing including immunity, cognitive function, metabolic function, mental wellbeing and respiratory function. 

“In particular, the connection to immunity has driven current consumer interest in a healthy microbiome.” 

According to a 2020 Innova Market Insights survey, nearly one in four global consumers revealed they purchased food or drinks for the purpose of improving digestive health in previous months. 

Additionally, almost 30 percent of global consumers said that improving digestive health was desirable, which is almost as much as boosting immunity (32 percent). 

Bioavailable butyrate
CoreBiome is marketed as the only patented tributyrin in the world supported by clinical data demonstrating that it reaches the colon. 

According to Prinova, tributyrin is the most bioavailable form of butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that helps maintain the intestinal lining and protect the body from harmful bacteria.

“CoreBiome is bioavailable in the colon and nourishes the whole gut. It works quickly and offers low odor, making it commercially viable for a wide range of market applications. The combination of these benefits has allowed sales to boom, making CoreBiome one of the world’s best-selling postbiotics,” says Matt Titlow, CEO of Compound Solutions. 

It is available in granules for encapsulation or as a liquid for softgels, liquid caps, duocaps and combocaps.Nearly one in four global consumers recently purchased food or drinks to improve their digestive health. 

Tapping into keto appeal
Meanwhile, GoBiome is a prebiotic-postbiotic powder targeting the gut-brain and gut-skin axes. It is well suited for fiber and collagen applications, functional coffees and keto-friendly options. 

It contains short-chain triglycerides (SCTs) sourced from CoreBiome, which helps protect the gut barrier. Moreover, it offers medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) from coconuts that help aid metabolic and cognitive health.

Another product is GoFat – a range of low-carbohydrate fat powders with options based on conjugated linoleic acid, coconut and olive oil. They can promote feelings of satiety, help maintain blood sugar in already healthy ranges, and improve taste and texture in functional foods.

A diverse range of offerings
Other products included in the agreement are GoMCT, a healthy fat product that optimizes ketone production, and GoCocoa, a proprietary, low-carbohydrate, high-fat cocoa butter powder, which adds chocolate flavor and creamy texture to supplements and functional foods.

The remaining products are vegan-friendly creamer Clean Cream and healthy low-glycemic carbohydrate Carb10. 

Late last year, Prinova Europe also developed a line of nanoparticle-free powders of vitamin D. 

Prinova Group and Compound Solutions’ ingredients both previously featured in PlantFuel Life’s sports nutrition supplements.
