PanTheryx brings colostrum nutrition bars and soft-chews to market for immunity and digestion
24 Mar 2021 --- PanTheryx’s ColostrumOne, a high-quality bovine colostrum ingredient, is now available in extruded soft-chews or soft press and baked nutrition bars.
These new delivery formats offer US adults and children new, on-the-go ways to maintain immunity and digestive health.
“Our cow colostrum is tested and used successfully in proof-of-concept products, including functional nutrition bars and soft-chew supplements – making ColostrumOne the first cow colostrum to be delivered in these formats in the US,” says Wes Parris, PanTheryx’s president and CEO.
In all applications, ColostrumOne’s immunoglobulins (IgGs) remain stable throughout the manufacturing process.
The extruded soft-chews are a lower-calorie option to the traditional gummy supplement, and the nutrition bars have been independently deemed Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).
Beyond “one-dimensional” supplements
PanTheryx states that 400 to 750 mg of bovine colostrum is the recommended serving to achieve immune and digestive health benefits.
ColostrumOne is tested at the 500 mg level (20 percent IgG) for inclusion in soft-textured chews and 1 g (20 percent IgG) for baked or soft press nutrition bar applications.
“Unlike one-dimensional supplements, ColostrumOne contains protective proteins, prebiotics and immune and growth factors – it is a comprehensive health solution, the way nature intended,” says Dave Blackwood, vice president of sales, PanTheryx.
The company is now looking to work with food, beverage and supplement manufacturers to create new functional products with ColostrumOne.
“We will also continue investing in immune and digestive health innovations to give manufacturers a way to differentiate their products in the market,” adds Parris.
Nature’s superfood
ColostrumOne is a proprietary colostrum powder collected from Grade A dairy farms in the US. PanTheryx positions ColostrumOne as “nature’s superfood,” providing important nutritional components for health and vitality throughout all stages of life.
PanTheryx uses cellular and biomolecular processes of bovine colostrum to develop and produce a wide range of nutritional health and wellness products.
A company study in January revealed the complex composition of bovine colostrum and its components that collectively may support immunity and gut health.
PanTheryx has been broadening its digestive health offerings, most recently with the acquisition of TruBiotics from Bayer HealthCare.
This is amid industry tightening its focus on digestive health and immunity over the last year. According to Innova Market Insights, 21 percent of food, beverage and supplement launches launched with an immune health claim in 2019 also featured a digestive or gut health claim.
Last month, an IFF study revealed that probiotic strains may help modulate the immune system in children through their anti-inflammatory effects.
Chr. Hansen also recently emphasized the connection between the human microbiome and the immune system. Notably, 70 percent of the immune system is located around the gastrointestinal system.
