OmniActive addresses occasional dry eye “unmet needs” in US with Nutritears
22 Sep 2021 --- OmniActive Health Technologies (OmniActive) has commercially launched Nutritears in the US, following its introduction in July. The combination of ingredients addresses occasional dry eyes and is formulated with lutein and zeaxanthin isomers, curcuminoids and vitamin D3.
“Our market research showed that there is an unmet need in the market for this type of product,” says Akhil Bajaj, category manager, vision and cognitive health at OmniActive.
“Our consumer insights reveals that nearly three-quarters of consumers consider dietary supplement solutions for occasional dry eye to be more or just as effective as current therapies such as eye drops.”
Nutritears is the first product created using OmniActive’s Integrative Actives platform, which facilitates the delivery of multiple actives into concentrated smaller doses.
In a recent study, Nutritears was shown to improve eye hydration and moisture, lessen tear loss and help improve healthy tear production as well as help soothe issues associated with occasional dry eyes in as little as two weeks.
Moreover, supplementation with Nutritears was shown to reduce the need for artificial tears, addressing the primary concern of discomfort.
“We have spent the last few months ramping up production to meet the demand for our commercial launch. Nutritears has been well received by those looking to address the multifaceted issues surrounding dry eye,” said Isabel Lucas, director of product launch and marketing excellence.

Also in the space, PharmaLinea launched a line of preventative eye health supplements in consumer-friendly formats in May. The two additions to PharmaLinea’s line of private label eye health supplements at the time were >Your< Vision Orosticks and >Your< Vision Liquid Sticks.
