Neurohacker Collective targets digital eye strain with latest launch
27 Aug 2021 --- Well-being supplements specialist Neurohacker Collective has launched Qualia Vision, which it markets as a “comprehensive nutritional defense” against digital eye strain.
The negative health consequences of straining our eyes are well established. US consumers now spend an average of 13 hours of digital screen time per day on smartphones, TVs and laptops, according to data cited by Neurohacker Collective.
“From Lutemax 2020 for macula health and blue-light filtering, to the MirtoSelect Bilberry that has been used in more than 60 studies and protects photoreceptors and the surface of the eye – Qualia Vision is providing the nourishment hard-working eyes need to perform at their best,” says Gregory Kelly, director of product development at Neurohacker Collective.
“With digital eye strain producing both short-term annoyances and general visual health concerns, Qualia Vision is suited for recent generations bombarded by digital devices, while the low cost brings it in range for most of Gen X, Millennials, and even Gen Z bombarded by the digital era.”

Most people remain unaware that ingredients like bilberry, amla fruit, goji berry and saffron can combine to create relief from digital eye strain and its associated symptoms of irritation, blurry vision, dryness and visual fatigue, highlights Neurohacker Collective.
Qualia Vision combines these listed ingredients with nine others for a comprehensive regimen against digital eye strain, while also supporting general visual health.
There is rapidly increasing interest in this niche of nutrition as approximately 60 percent of the global population are now online, normalizing long hours of digital screen exposure.
Significantly, 74 percent of US workers now use a computer as part of their job.
Additionally, the increasing popularization of online gaming is elevating demand for solutions that boost the visual acuity needed while performing.
Whole systems science approach
The Qualia brand first rose to prominence in 2016 with its brain health and nootropic formulations. The San Diego, US-based start-up uses novel formulation techniques premised on the emerging field of “whole systems science.”
Instead of only a few ingredients per “formula,” or a “kitchen sink” approach of combining many ingredients with minimally researched synergistic relationships, every ingredient in a Qualia formula is dosed and selected based on the most optimal synergies it has with all other ingredients in a particular formula.
The Qualia brand has recently applied this technique to formulations beyond brain health, including sleep support, immune support and aging support in its expanding line up.

The COVID-19 pandemic has notably increased visual health concerns as more time is spent in front of screens.
In parallel, nutrition for visual health is beginning to become more refined in product offerings, ranging from saffron extract preventing glaucoma to paraprobiotics tackling digital eye fatigue.
According to Innova Market Insights, global launches with an eye health claim have seen a CAGR of 20 percent between 2017 and 2019. Asia is leading, with 6.9 percent of 2019 launches with an eye health claim being in this region. North America and Europe follow, at 5.3 and 5.1 percent, respectively.
Last July, OmniActive Health Technologies’ Nutritears – a patent-pending dry eye formulation – was featured in a new platform through which multiple active compounds can be delivered in concentrated smaller doses.
OmniActive previously spoke with NutritionInsight about how xanthophyll carotenoids, such as astaxanthin, capsanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin, are recognized for their ability to provide powerful ocular nutrition.
Meanwhile, last June, Cosmax Bio developed an eye health ingredient made from Centella asiatica extract. Better known as Gotu Kola or pennywort, the tropical medicinal plant is native to Southeast Asia, Madagascar and South Africa.
