Nexira introduces BloomEase to reduce menstrual discomfort and fatigue
Key takeaways
- Nexira debuts BloomEase, a nutraceutical combining yarrow and magnesium to reduce menstrual pain and fatigue, and improve mood.
- A study with 168 women showed rapid and consistent improvements in dysmenorrhea, emotional balance, and quality of life across cycles.
- BloomEase is flexible for supplement formulations, offering effective support before and during menstruation with a low daily dose.

Nexira has launched its first targeted solution designed to support women throughout the menstrual cycle, BloomEase. The nutraceutical combines yarrow (Achillea millefolium), which is used traditionally to soothe menstrual discomfort, and magnesium. Nexira notes that this mineral is known for its benefits on mood, fatigue, and psychological function.
The French ingredient supplier says BloomEase offers benefits before and during menstruation, with demonstrated efficacy in a human study. This showed consistent benefits across menstrual discomfort, mood and energy, and quality of life.
Nutrition Insight discusses the launch with Julie Impérato, marketing and communication manager at the company.
“We identified women’s health as a big category that we wanted to grow,” she tells us. “It’s a category with unmet needs.”

She notes that the market is increasing its offering of women’s health solutions, such as for urinary tract infections, beauty, and premenstrual syndrome. However, many ingredients focus on menopause and perimenopause.
“Sometimes, women’s health is reduced to these categories,” stresses Impérato.
As Nexira identified menstrual support as an unmet need, she says the company aimed to create a scientifically-backed solution. Its research identified the two ingredients included in BloomEase, yarrow and magnesium.
Real-life study
After developing the formulation, Nexira conducted a study with 168 women, comparing BloomEase to a placebo.
Impérato says that Nexira identified an unmet need in menstruation support on the women’s health market.“It was a solid and robust study, with good results,” Impérato adds. “Some benefits were demonstrated after cycle one, quite rapidly, and results improved in subsequent cycles.”
Though the study has not been published, she highlights its positive outcomes across three pillars — menstrual pain and discomfort, emotional balance, and quality of life.
“First, physical effects. Women can have physical pain and other discomfort before and during menstruation. The study demonstrated that it reduces intense dysmenorrhea (pain) for women who experience this. In the overall group, it reduced the pain and discomfort, including breast and gut discomfort.”
The study found significantly lower pain intensity compared to the placebo starting from the first cycle, while intense dysmenorrhea dropped after three cycles. The participants reported high satisfaction with lower breast pain and cramps.
“Second, we looked at effects on mood and fatigue, ” continues Impérato. “Fatigue was significantly reduced compared to placebo, and sleep improved. They also perceived less irritability and better emotional balance.”
Fatigue reduced as of the first cycle. At baseline, 62% of participants reported severe fatigue, but after cycle one, only 20% of women using BloomEase reported severe fatigue.
“Third, we analyzed quality of life,” adds Impérato. “Women felt less discomfort, stayed more active in personal and work life, and experienced less brain fog.”
A study on 168 women comparing BloomEase with a placebo supports the nutraceutical’s benefits in menstrual pain and discomfort, emotional balance, and quality of life. After two cycles, the reported discomfort affecting quality of life during menstruation decreased by 52%. Moreover, the study found a noticeable improvement in daily performance and work productivity.
Product applications
Nexira notes that BloomEase is suitable for food supplements. Impérato says its combination of a botanical extract and mineral offers a differentiating position compared to standard vitamins and minerals for women’s health.
“Another interesting point is the daily dosage of only 520 mg, which opens different formulations,” she adds. “You can combine it with other ingredients in a formulation for a broader range of benefits.”
“Magnesium also comes with a health claim; the combination uses the correct dosage for that, therefore, European customers can use this claim. Yarrow has a pending claim as well.”
Impérato notes that the recommendation is to take BloomEase continuously for the first two or three cycles. “Then you can reduce it to 10 days — seven days before menstruation and the first two or three days of menstruation — because that’s when discomfort is highest.”
Nexira first presented BloomEase to its customers at the recent Vitafoods Europe 2026 trade show.
At this trade show, TopGum Industries also introduced a PMS-relief gummy concept, featuring chaste tree berry extract (Vitex agnus-castus), magnesium, and vitamin B6. The company said this gummy is designed to help ease some of the physical tension and emotional fluctuations associated with PMS symptoms.
