Lief Raws partners with CellFlo6 to bring green tea performance ingredient to market
16 Sep 2021 --- Lief Raws, a division of US dietary supplement manufacturer, Lief Labs, has entered a licensing partnership with CellFlo6 to be the distribution and sales arm of its proprietary performance green tea extract with the same name.
CellFlo6 has specific levels of catechins to help support cardiovascular health, muscle recovery, metabolic health, immune health and weight management. The ingredient is also positioned to reduce oxidative stress and fight free radical damage at the cellular level.
This licensing partnership with CellFlo6 is representative of Lief Raws’ strategy to offer plant-based formulation options and ingredients for non-plant-based nutraceutical applications and areas of performance.
Meeting market demand
The development of Lief Raws was driven by the feedback Lief Labs received from its customers and vendors about what was lacking in the marketplace, explains Tito Sanchez, senior sales executive for Lief Raws.
As a partner and the distributor of CellFlo6, Sanchez notes Lief Raws will be able to “bring this clean label ingredient to brands seeking plant-based formulation options for a vast range of potential applications.”
Some applications are functional foods and gummies, energy and endurance, workout, weight management, ready-to-drink beverages and recovery.
Co-founder of CellFlo6, Matt Nickerson, adds: “Both parties are focused on bringing high-quality ingredients to people around the world who are looking for improved health, wellness and performance.”
Green tea’s benefits
Green tea is gaining ground as a mainstay nutraceutical to support immunity and address non-communicable diseases.
Among other research, green tea has been found to help suppress allergies via modulation of gut microbes.
Responding to the demand for premium green tea ingredients, last month green tea supplier Ito En partnered with Taiyo International to supply high-quality matcha to the food, beverage and supplement industries in North America. The powders will add to Taiyo’s portfolio, which also includes Suntheanine, a pure form of L-theanine, as well as the standardized green tea extracts Sunphenon and Teavigo.
