iHerb unveils “practitioner-grade” supplements for targeted nutrition
Online health and wellness retailer, iHerb, moves into the professional-grade supplement space with the addition of three brands: Metagenics, Pure Encapsulations, and Designs for Health. These brands join iHerb’s growing portfolio of offerings.
The expansion marks a strategic step for iHerb, which serves customers in over 180 countries with clinical-grade vitamins, minerals, and supplements — formulated with high-potency, research-backed ingredients — to a global consumer base seeking more targeted, reliable nutrition support.
“As one of the leading authorities on natural medicine, I’ve seen the benefit of professional-grade supplements among patients given the consistent quality, potency, and safety of these products,” says Dr. Michael T. Murray, iHerb’s chief scientific advisor.
“Professional brands often come with clinical studies supporting their use, which is strong evidence of the effectiveness of their natural products.”
High-grade supplements
Often referred to as “practitioner-grade,” the company says that professional supplements are known for their stringent quality standards, including rigorous third-party testing to verify purity, potency, and the absence of contaminants like heavy metals and pesticides.
These supplements are typically recommended by medical professionals to address specific health conditions or correct micronutrient deficiencies with precision.
The latest additions address growing consumer demand for more sophisticated, results-driven wellness solutions. Additionally, iHerb states that, unlike many over-the-counter supplements, professional brands are frequently used as part of broader wellness protocols that incorporate diet and lifestyle interventions and offer more comprehensive and individualized care.
Promising probiotics
In addition to expanding its supplement catalog, iHerb is highlighting innovations in the rapidly evolving probiotic market. The company’s “next-generation” probiotics from Pendulum and Codeage include Akkermansia muciniphila, a gut microbe it says is gaining attention for its role in metabolic health.
Akkermansia supports the integrity of the gut lining and plays a role in balancing glucose and insulin levels.
“We’re seeing consumers increasingly turn to high-quality, professional-grade supplements at the recommendation of their healthcare practitioner,” adds Lindsey Wiefels, senior vice president of Merchandising at iHerb. “We’re proud to meet the demands of the market with these highly respected brands.”
