IFT First 2026: Samyang debuts Fibernova crystalline prebiotic fiber brand
Key takeaways
- At IFT First, Samyang Corporation has unveiled a new brand for its crystalline prebiotic dietary fiber made of over 99% fructooligosaccharides, Fibernova.
- The ingredient provides 30% of the sweetness of sugar with only about 1% sugar content, preventing powder clumping in functional beverages.
- Samyang is also showcasing its AI-powered 3S Solution, which recommends optimal ingredient combinations to simplify and accelerate sugar reduction formulation.
Samyang Corporation has launched a new brand for its crystalline dietary fiber, Fibernova, at the ongoing IFT (Institute of Food Technologists) First 2026 trade show, in Chicago, US (Jul 13–15). The crystalline prebiotic fiber ingredient, also known as ketose, feeds healthy gut bacteria.
The ingredient contains more than 99% fructooligosaccharides. Unlike conventional dietary fibers, it can be produced in crystalline form and offers approximately 30% of the sweetness of sugar.
Suited for use in reduced-sugar products, the ingredient’s sugar levels are kept to around 1%. Samyang Corporation says it can be used in a wide range of applications, including functional beverages and other nutrition-focused products.
“In developing reduced-sugar products, it is essential to reduce the amount of sugar used while maintaining excellent taste and texture,” says Jung Jisuk, head of the Food Business Unit at Samyang Corporation.

“Based on our 3S (smart, simple, and successful) Solution and specialty food ingredients, Samyang Corporation will continue to strengthen its capabilities to support customized product development and respond quickly to the diverse needs of global food companies.”
Electrolyte drink application
The name Fibernova bridges “Fiber” with “Nova,” which Samyang Corporation intends to convey an “innovative next-generation dietary fiber ingredient.”
At IFT First 2026, visitors can sample powdered electrolyte drink sticks containing Fibernova. The samples are low in sugar and high in dietary fiber, while offering a clean drinking experience without powder clumping.
Samyang Corporation is also showcasing its customizable product development capabilities, demonstrated by its AI-powered sugar reduction solution, the 3S Solution.
The 3S AI recommends the optimal combination and formulation ratios of Samyang Corporation’s specialty ingredients based on customers’ desired sugar reduction target, product characteristics, and cost requirements.
At IFT First, Samyang Corporation is exhibiting Fibernova in an electrolyte drink format as it is resistant to clumping when mixed with water.According to the company, this helps reduce the time and cost required for initial formulation design, repeated sample testing, and formulation adjustments.
On the show floor, Samyang Corporation is also offering pectin gummy samples developed using the 3S Solution. The gummies are made with the alternative sweetener allulose and the soluble dietary fiber resistant maltodextrin, which reduces sugar while maintaining the characteristic texture and flavor of gummy confectionery.
Addressing modern food needs
Samyang Corporation highlights that the growth of the GLP-1-related market is redirecting consumer eating habits and nutritional needs. This is propelling the global food industry to innovate products that offer smaller portions with higher nutritional value, reduced sugar with added protein and dietary fiber, and longer-lasting satiety.
In response to this evolution, Samyang Corporation has conducted research into how its specialty food ingredients, including allulose, kestose, and resistant maltodextrin, affect metabolic responses such as postprandial blood glucose levels, as well as the gut environment.
At the IFT First exhibition, the company is sharing its research findings with visiting customers and highlighting the characteristics of each ingredient and its potential applications in food product development.
In addition to Fibernova, Samyang Corporation is spotlighting its allulose brand Nexweet and resistant maltodextrin brand Fiberest. The supplier highlights that allulose is a nearly zero-calorie alternative sweetener that provides roughly 70% of the sweetness of sugar.
Resistant maltodextrin is a soluble dietary fiber that Samyang Corporation says may help support regular bowel movements, suppress postprandial increases in blood glucose levels, and improve blood triglyceride levels.
In other IFT First showcases, IMCD Group is exhibiting its range of nine exclusive food and beverage concept creations, zeroing in on the e-sports category. The company emphasizes that the segment is among the fastest-growing digital markets, with gamers seeking nutritional solutions that offer energy, performance, and engaging experiences.
