Gut microbiome ingredients specialist Clasado Biosciences has partnered with Prokopton to expand its distribution footprint in France, which it highlights as one of Europe’s most significant prebiotics markets.
The deal entails that the Éguilles-based Prokopton will supply Clasado Biosciences’ prebiotic galactooligosaccharide (GOS) ingredient Bimuno GOS to brands and manufacturers in the French supplements, food and beverage, and pet nutrition sectors.
“France is an appealing European market for prebiotics, and this appointment reflects our commitment to ensuring that brands and manufacturers across the region have straightforward access to Bimuno GOS,” says Annika Malmros, director of Business Development at Clasado Biosciences.

“Prokopton has a well-established position across supplements, food and beverage, and pet nutrition sectors, combined with a deep understanding of the French market. As such, it’s exactly the right partner to support brands looking to meet growing consumer demand with a prebiotic ingredient they can stand behind.”
Bimuno GOS performance
According to Clasado Biosciences, Bimuno GOS is one of the most widely studied prebiotics, backed by more than 130 scientific publications and over 25 clinical trials.
The company says it functions by selectively feeding beneficial bacteria in the gut microbiome, including Bifidobacteria, which are closely associated with gastrointestinal, immune, and cognitive well-being.
In one recent study, daily Bimuno GOS supplementation improved gut barrier integrity, reduced the severity of gastrointestinal symptoms, and reduced upper respiratory symptoms in healthy male athletes, compared to a placebo.
The ingredient’s versatility across product formats makes it well-suited to the diverse formulation needs of the French market. The ingredient’s versatility across product formats makes it well-suited to the diverse formulation needs of the French market. It features in a Bimuno-branded powdered supplement range for digestive health, which Clasado Biosciences sold to the high-protein breakfast brand Eleat last year to focus more on its core B2B sales of the prebiotic ingredient.
In July last year, Bimuno GOS hit a regulatory milestone when it was approved for use in Therapeutic Goods Administration-listed products in Australia. This includes dietary supplements intended for therapeutic purposes.
Bullish on gut health
Clasado says France presents a “clear and growing” commercial opportunity. The company stresses that consumer engagement is strong and extends beyond reactive health management.
This is backed by 2026 Innova Market Insights data, which indicates that gut health is one of the top physical health concerns for many global consumers. About half of consumers are turning to nutrition-fortified and regular food and beverages for gut support.
“French consumers are ahead of the curve. They’re not waiting to feel unwell before they act, they’re making considered choices about their health every day, and gut health is firmly on their radar. They are well aware of how foundational gut health is to their well-being and lifespan,” adds Yazan El Safadi, managing director at Prokopton.
“That’s exactly the kind of consumer environment where Bimuno GOS thrives: a market that’s ready for an ingredient with real science behind it, not just a trend label. We rarely come across ingredients with such a solid scientific backing, and Bimuno GOS earns its place.”
