He has recently published 5 papers in Q1 journals and has also participated in a host of scientific congresses.

Now that we're all introduced, I'd like to start this webinar entitled Traditional Mediterranean Complex for Immune Support.

Presented by Farmactive, the webinar comes as immunity is at the forefront of consumer awareness.

According to an Enova Market Insights consumer survey conducted just as the COVID-19 pandemic was picking up pace in late March, there's been a particularly strong uplift in consumption of products that boost immunity in Asia and South America.

All around the world, people are starting to take notice of their -being.

With winter fast approaching, immunity awareness is set to become even more strong.

Specifically, consumers are seeking out effective science-backed solutions and botanicals that can support their immunity while still addressing demands for naturality.

In this space, FarmActive is introducing three non-GMO botanical solutions called Olive Active, Ianolic, and Ianolic complex.

These are based on traditional Mediterranean medicine but backed by clinical research.

The offerings include bioflavonoid and phenolic olive leaf extracts to support immunity and address negative symptoms that may arise.

I'll now hand over to Herman.

For centuries, the olive lease has shown a positive medicinal effects.

As an example, in ancient Egypt, olive leaves were not only used to treat fever, but they were even considered as a divine symbol.

In the Mediterranean basin, the Greek culture also used olive leaves for bonizinal purposes.

Their natural origin is highly appreciated by customers.

It's absolutely clear that worldwide there's an increasing trend and interest in alternative and natural solutions.

Spain is known all over the world as the country of olive trees.

This makes it easier for Factive to obtain high quality standard local raw materials.

We take advantage of the Mediterranean tradition and know-how in the use of olive leaves for medicinal purposes to obtain ingredients of the highest quality and purity.

On top of this, it's important to underline that the ingredients manufactured by Foractive are processed from beginning to end in our facilities in Madrid, Spain, guaranteeing a complete traceability.

At Pharmactive, we are dedicated to develop and market different scientifically endorsed natural ingredients with the main target of improving people's life.

All our efforts are focused in being the natural, most scientific, and most committed alternative for the development of ingredients for the nutraceutical and pharma industries.

Within the nutraceutical market, products dedicated to improve the immune system represent approximately 20%.

In addition, these days, it's of interest to all population age ranges, but especially for those over 55.

In the United Kingdom, for example, 1/3 of the consumers of nutraceutical supplements are so because they have opted for products focused to improve the immune system.

In order to understand the relevance of our products, it must be said that annually between 5 and 10% of the world population is infected with the influenza virus.

More than 10% of respiratory tract infections are attributed to influenza, and finally, cold and flu symptoms can appear in adults up to 3 times every year.

After, thanks everyone for this introduction, and after that, let's going to start talking about our products.

This is one, let's talk about Olivaiv.

Our Olive Les extract designed to strengthen the immune system naturally.

Olivai is designed as a natural immune booster with microbicidal and immunomodulatory effects.

Is the unique ollili extract, double standardized in two molecules.

One of them is oloropane, and the other one is the bioflavonoids.

This bioflavonoids, or grants olivacter a stronger and higher stability due to, due to the strong antioxidant capacity.

And, thanks for being a traditional ingredient, appeals to consumers as a natural, effective and safe solution.

In addition, thanks to its double standardization, it has a multi-tiered mechanism of action to improve the immune system.

And for sure, olive is more typical from Spain, so Olivati is locally sourced.

As I said, olivacid is standardized in more than 20% of alleropane and in more than 2% of bioflavonide, both by HPLC.

Oreoppan is one of the most characteristic biomolecules from Ooropeolites.

And exerts immunomodulatory, microbicidal, and strong anti-inflammatory effects.

By the other way, bioflavonoids are a group of molecules that are really potent antioxidants and also they play an important role in controlling the glycemia levels.

And you will think, why is it important to control the glycemia now if we are talking about the immune system?

It has been seen that higher glucose levels in blood can impair the activity of the immune cells.

Also, bioflavons confer better stability toolliactin thanks to the antioxidant properties.

Let's talk about a little bit from the scientific evidence behind olivactiv.

Thanks to its double standardization, polyd it have a multi-mechanism of action.

One of them is the immunomodulatory activity of olobin, which regulates the immune response of macrophages and granulocytes.

As can we see, olorobin is able to stimulate the macrophages phagocytosis against some microbes, favoring the elimination of them.

Also, oleropin has a direct antimicrobial activity against some bacteria, microplasma, and viruses.

So olivactiv not only improve the activity of the immune cells, but also is able to eliminate the microbes thoroughly.

Third of all, olobacter presents a strong anti-inflammatory activity at a systemic level thanks to its content on oleropine and bioflavonides.

They are able to attenuate the overall inflammatory state, which is characterized by really high levels of pro-inflammatory molecules, as can be the cytokines interleukin 6 and 4, and the TEF alpha.

These higher levels of inflammation can exert some, some damage in some tissues as the muscles and the lungs, so olivai is able to produce the higher levels of these inflammatory molecules in order to prevent that damage.

Finally, as I said before, bioflavonoids are able to control the glucose levels, and how I, how do they, do this work?

We have to know that sugars need to be eurolyzed in order to obtain the monomers of glucose by some enzymes called alpha amylase and alpha glucosidase.

Are these monomers of glucose, the ones that are absorbed through the intestine and arrives through the blood, and as I say, really high levels of glucose in blood can impair the activity of the immune system.

So it has been seen that bioflavonoids are able to inhibit these two hydrolyses in order to avoid the, the abstention of monomers of glucose, so it can control the glycemia peaks after lunch and avoid the impairment of the immune cells.

Let's see which makes olivactive a different olive leaf extract.

Olivati is the unique olive leaf extract, which is also standardized in bioflavonoids, which confers a better stability to the extract thanks to the strong antioxidant properties.

Also, we can see here in the picture an HPLC chromatogram.

This is like a fingerprint for for an herbal extract, and in this case, we have some peaks that represent each flavonoid present in olivactive.

So if one of these peaks will be different, it can say that the herbal extract or the olive extract in this case could be adulterated.

So controlling the levels of bioflavonoids also or or is really characteristic that olive active is from olive leaves.

Let's talk about now the other olive leaf extract that we have which is called eolic.

This one is designed for cold and flu natural relief.

Ianolic is an olive leaf extract really useful for the prevention and the management of infections, and this extract is standardized to more than 4% of eleanolic acid by HPLC, which has been reported to observe strong antimicrobial activity, especially against some viruses.

Thanks to the its content of elannoic acid, it has a multi-tier mechanism of action that helps to stop, to stop the virus life cycle and the spread of the infection.

Pennoic acid presents an activity which is called the neuroaminidase inhibitor activity.

This, this activity is really recommended by the World Health Organization for managing for manage the viral infections.

Also, we have tested in vitro, or against and compared it to Tamiflu, which is a gold standard drug used to control the flu, and, and it only only exerts a really outstanding influenza inhibition values.

We are going to see it later.

Esenolic is standardized to more than 4% of elennoic acid by HPLC.

And what's elenoic acid?

Elennoic acid is one of the most important secondary metabolites of olive leaves, and it's the main active responsible for the antimicrobial activities of olive leaves.

There are numerous in vitro studies that have shown this antimicrobial activity, including both virus, as can be influenza A and B, and several bacteria.

Let's see now the scientific evidence behind ethanol, and I have to say that we are performing now a new clinical study which is coming really soon.

It only has a multi-tiyer mechanism of action in order to inhibit the infection of the influenza A and B virus.

First of all, isolic is able to inhibit the entry of the virus into the cell.

And also, if the virus is able to go into the cell, it can stop its replication thanks to its activities of neutralizing the reverse transcriptase and the proteins, two key proteins for the viral replication.

Also, thanks to its neuroimmunidase inhibitor activity, it is able to avoid the release of the virus with the cell and also promotes its destruction.

Why it is the neuraminida so important for the virus?

Influenza and other kinds of viruses, which are, are promoting cold symptoms follows a specialized cycle which is called lysogenic, which consists in infection of the cell, replication and release.

For the release of the virus, it is really important, the thing called neuraminidase.

It helps to dissemble the virus from the cell and to spread the infection to another cells.

So this is why the World Health Organization recommends the use of neuroaminidase inhibitors to manage the viral infections.

As we can see here in the lab, the, when the virus is formed in, it is get attached to the membrane of the cell thanks to the neuraminidase.

It recognizes a receptor present in the cells called neuraminidase cell receptors, and when this connection is produced, the virus is released from the cells and ready to infect another cell surround there.

So how the neuraminidase inhibitors work?

In that case, the neuraminidase inhibitor is able to block the recognition of the neuraminidase through the neuraminidase cell receptor, so it's completely avoiding the release of the virus and in that way, stop the spreading of the infection.

We have tested in vitro the the neuraminebase activity inhibition of isenolic, and we saw that isenolic showed a potent inhibitor effect over neuraminibase activity in a dose-dependent manner.

Comparing the viral activity inhibition of ethanolic and the gold standard drug, we saw that ethanolic prevent or inhibit the viral activity to a 65%, which compared to the activity except by the gold standard drug, is the 88% of the activity.

Also, we tested if ethanolic was able to preserve the cell viability after the infection of influenza, and we saw that Ianolic treatment preserved the 73% of viable cells after the influenza A infection, which was more or less a 93% of the number of alive cells that the gold standard drug was able to preserve.

So we have with a natural extract that is able to exert the 88% of activity of the annonaminase inhibitor inhibition and also preserves the 93% of activity of cells alive compared to this gold standard drug.

So it's a really active natural extract and really useful to prevent the flu.

Finally, let's talk about our new product designed for the cold and flu symptoms relief, which is called Enoic Complex.

What's new in isanolic complex?

Ianolic complex is a combination of ethanolic with a plantgolanzolata extract, which might help with several virus and bacterial infections.

It is really useful for the prevention and infection management and to treat its symptoms thanks to the to its content of bevascocyte, standardized by HPLC.

So ehenoic complex is standardized in elannoic acid, as I said before, because it contains ethanolic and also in pervascocyte more than 1% by HPLC from the plantagolanzola aids.

It has been tested in several in vitro and in vivo studies that the vascocytes shows a potent antibacterial and antiviral effect.

Let's see more deeply the scientific evidence behind is generally complex.

It's generally complex has a multi-tiered mechanisms of action.

In the left, we saw, we can see the cell cycle leap of the influenza A virus that I have explained before, and which eanelic acid exerts the inhibition of the viral infection of influenza A.

Now, in the right, we can see here the, the cycle life cycle of the respiratory syncytial virus.

This one is one of the most important virus causing the cold in kids and adults.

It has been tested that pervascocyte present in seasonanolic complex is able to stop or avoid the viral entry into the cell of the respiratory syncytial virus.

So not only is able to inhibit the viral infection of influenza A causing the flu, but also the one from the respiratory synthhetial virus causing some colds.

But also, vervascocyte has another mechanism of activities that can help in order to control the symptoms of flu and cold.

First of all, vervascocyte has a strong antimicrobial activity against different bacteria that gave effectiveness against respiratory diseases such as bronchitis or pneumonia.

Because it has been seen that it's able to kill the some bacteria as the streptococcus pneumonia, which is really important and is one of the main causes pneumonia.

Also, revascocyte exerts a strong anti-inflammatory activity inhibiting the promotion of these damaging inflammatory pathways and is able to reduce the sore throat sensation and the pain in the respiratory airways.

Also, the vascua has a wound healing activity that decreases the damage to the airways, also contributing to reduce the cough.

So we saw that Pharmacive has a lot of different products designed for or the immune system support, which are also really important in the older populations.

So we offer like three excellent options to strengthen the immune system.

First of all, we have Olivative, which is the olive leaf extract standardized in all in all oral pain, designed to strength and to boost the immune system.

Secondly, we have ethanolic, the olive leaf extract standardized in eleannoic acid, which exerts a a strong antiviral activity against influenza and controls the flu.

And finally, we have the new extract called ethanolic complex.

This combination of ethanolic and plantable insulata extract, which is able to control the flue, the cold, the flu, and also its symptoms.

So Pharmacy makes innovative ingredients always, and we give the necessary scientific support to guarantee the highest quality standards.

So now I give the the pass to to cooperate in order to start with the Q&A session.

Thank you.

Thank you very much, Daniel and Hermon for that interesting presentation.

This is Catherine Durrell from Nutrition Once again, from Nutrition Insight once again.

I'll now host a Q&A session with the speakers.

I can see that our listeners have already been sending in some great questions, so I'll dive right in with a question asking, are isanolic and olive active soluble in water?

Yes, both of these ingredients, ionic and olive active, are soluble in water because they are extracted in 100% water.

So if you want to apply any of these ingredients to, to, in some final ingredient which is, so, in which is going to be a drink, it's 100% able to use this ingredient so to solubilize it in water.

Great, thank you very much.

I've got another question already asking if children can use synoic complex as.

I'm sorry?

One of the listeners is wondering if children are also able to use it's it's a knowledge complex.

Yes, most of these herbal extracts are really safe to be used in, in most of the, of the people, and also if you want to be really sure, you can ask to, to the doctor, but yes, it's safe enough to, to be used in children also.

Great, the next question says that Oli active is standardized to 20% olorop pine, but does olive active also have, elanolic acid?

In the case of olive acid, it has, it, it didn't have any eanolic acid.

If it has higher levels of oloropin and really higher levels of different bioflavonides, but not from elanolic acid.

Great and then another listener is wondering which is the RDD.

OK.

The recommended daily dose of Olivaiv and Inanix are different to the different, standardizations.

In the case of Olivaiv, the recommended daily dose is of, 300 mg per day to a maintenance dose, you know, if you want to take, to take it daily and to prevent some diseases, the recommended daily dose is of 300 mg per day.

But if you want an intensive dose, you can also take 500 mg of olive acid, for example, in winter in order to avoid different diseases.

And in the case of ethanolic, the recommended daily dose is 115 mg per day in order to prevent the flu infection.

But also, again, if you want to take an acute treatment, if you have already the flu, you can take a higher dose of ethanolic, which is around 300 mg per day.

In the in the case of ethic complex, the recommended daily dose is 500 mg per day.

Great, I'm sure that's very useful for our listeners.

I have another question here asking if you could explain a little bit more about the differences between all of active and Ianolic.

Yes, of course.

The main difference in olive active and analytic is their standardization because in, in the process to obtain them we treat differently the material in order to obtain different molecules.

So at the end we have oliveactive with, with really higher levels of oleropan, 20 20% in by HPLC, and in ethanolic we obtain different molecules, and, but more specifically enrich acid standardized in more than 4%.

So this is the main difference between oliveactive and ethanolic.

Oliveactive is rich in lolodopine and ethanolic is really rich in elannoic acid.

That makes sense.

Thank you.

Another listener is wondering if you might be able to share a little bit more about the shelf life of these products.

Yes, for sure, the shelf-life of both olivactive and ethanolic and eternally complex, at least is for more than 2 years, and this is thank you to the really high presence of different bioflavonates in these extracts.

Specifically olive active, we control the levels of these bioflavonates.

So thanks to the antioxidant activity, grants to olive active a really long shelf life of at least 2 years.

Great, thank you.

And then going back to dosage, one listener has written in asking when do you choose maintenance or intensive dosages?

OK, that depends, as I explained a little bit, in the situation, of when do you want to, to try these ingredients.

For example, if you want only to prevent an infection or a disease, it is better to use a maintenance recommended daily dose.

That's for, for remembering for Olivaive it's 300 mg per day, and for Eol it's 150 mg per day.

But for example, if, if you all, you have already the flu or a disease, it's when it's better to use a more acute or or more higher recommended daily dose but for Oli active it's around 500 mg per day and for eheolic it's for 300 mg per day.

Great.

And then one of our other listeners has just asked, why is all of Active standardized to bioflavonoids?

Mhm.

OK, so I explained some questions before.

Biofabonoids are really important, for, for, increase the shelf life of the ingredient of olive aid.

Thanks to its really strong antioxidant capacity, it's able to prevent the oxidation of choropane and other compounds present in olive aid.

But also we have to remember that biflabonates have a really strong anti-inflammatory activity and they, and that they are able to reduce the glucose absorption after lunch.

So it's able also to contribute in olive aid to maintain a more healthy immune system.

So it's not only to improve the shelf life, but also the a flavonoids run to olive acid, a higher activity to the immune system.

Thank you very much.

I have another question asking if it would be advisable to combine the use of olive active and Ianolic, and, if so, could you give an example of when to take one versus the other?

That's for sure.

You can combine already use olive active and Ionic if you need, for example, in, we are in winter and we want not only to prevent the infection of flu but also to have a better immune system.

So if you need, you can combine both of these extracts, one to the flu and another for the immune system.

But a few examples, for example, so when to take one or the other, for example, if, if you want only to prevent the flu infection or you have already a flu.

With influenza, influenza viruses, is when you have to take , an ingredient with isolic in it, because isolic thanks to the eannoic acid, it's able to act clearly against the virus which is causing the flu.

But if it's to another reason, in order to prevent a cold or to prevent another diseases or to have a stronger immune system.

It's able, it's better to, to try an ingredient with olive acid, which is able to increase the activity of the immune cells as the macrophages.

So this is the main difference.

If you want only to increase your immune system activity, take olive acid, but if you want to, to attack directly to a to a virus which is causing you the flu, it's when you have to take isolic.

Great, another listener is wondering what is the relationship between glucose disbalance and immunity?

Oh yes, the glucose, higher, higher levels of glucose, as happens with some diabetic patients which are not controlling the glucose levels, can disturb the normal activity of the immune cells because really high levels of glucose increases a lot the levels of reactive oxygen species, which impairs the activity of the immune cells and decreases the recognition of of different microbes to them.

So this is why, glucose disbalance is able to decrease the normal activity of the immune system.

Really high levels of glucose are producing really high levels of reactive oxygen species that can impair the normal activity of the immune cells.

So this is why it, it is one of the mechanisms of action of bioflavonex present in olivactive, reducing these higher levels of glucose to preserve a better activity of the immune system.

Right, thank you very much.

One listener has just written in asking what the process is to extract, Isilonic, and, can it have the same effect on, as olive leaves and infusion when it's taken in capsules.

It's analy thanks to the process, it's a proprietary process, OK, but, it's, it has different steps in order to obtain a really higher levels of eanolic acid.

But, , we have to have in mind that an extract as is is an oli is more concentrated in its principle in its in its active principle of active molecules than an infusion of le lips because also there are some steps in the extraction that they are different to a normal infusion so.

It the main difference is we, we can't compare an extract with a normal infusion for sure an infusion, it, it has a good levels of molecules, but an extract is really, really more concentrated than any infusion of olive leaves or any kind of, edible preparation.

Great.

And then talking a little bit more about the applications, would it be possible to make a suite from Ianolic complex?

Yes, for sure.

Thanks to its solubility in water of its only complex and also of olive activate and it's only, it can be used in many, many different gallonic forms.

But for example, for it's complex, it's really interesting to make a sweet with it because thanks to its, its content of the rebasco site and also another components present is plantagolacelata, which is one of the ingredients of seasono complex.

It makes it easier for the ingredient to act directly in the oropharyngeal cavity and act directly to decreasing the inflammation in the throat and reducing this sore throat sensation and this pain.

So it, it will be really, really interesting to make a sweet which is another complex.

Great, thank you very much, Daniel for all of your comprehensive answers to the questions.

I think that that concludes today's, Q&A.

But , yeah, I'd like to thank everyone for tuning into today's webinar brought to you by Farm Active Biotech Products.
