Prebiotica highlights their acacia gum derived product as a “natural solution to add prebiotic function to your product range.” The product, which is available as a bulk ingredient or as a private label product, has numerous functional properties as an ingredient for stabilization, emulsifying, coating and shelf-life. Isam Sidig at Prebiotica discusses a highly creative supplement product line.
This is Raws at the HAE in Frankfurt.
I'm here with Dr.
Isan Siddik from Prebiotics in Europe.
Is Sam, you have launched a very, very interesting new line of prebiotic products based on acacia gum.
Can you give me a bit of the background to this and how it meets today's trends?
Actually, acacia gums was originally a worldwide recognized as an additive used into stabilizer for food.
But you know, when we looked at it nutritionally, we found that.
It is 85% plus polysaccharide, so it gives us the impression we have to do it and test.
It is prebiotic effect.
So we went to a laboratory in Belgium and we did the test, and it was prebiotic polycyclide.
How strong is the prebiotic effect then?
It is very strong because, you know, within 4 hours, they doubled the bacteria numbers, the probiotic bacteria.
And actually we did a lot of clinical studies, which is published internationally.
We did a clinical study for IBS, diarrhea, and we have the two acacias.
One of them is Acacia Senegal, which is PBOM.
And the other acacia, which is acacia tree, which is a pre biote.
The two occasions are distinct.
They are all together called gamma rari.
So we found that this one works , like an antibiotic effect.
So it is, if somebody with diarrhea can help him.
And this one works like constipation and reflux.
Like that, it works because you know it boosts the amount of bacteria.
By a level which is very high, you cannot find a material in nature which has a natural.
Concentration of prebiotic and it is edible at the same time.
Except you find it in modern milk.
How about when it comes to, it's a dietary supplement, how would a consumer use this in their in their day to day lifestyle?
Yes, actually, for them to stay healthy because it has a preventive role and a curative role.
As a preventive role, 10 g.
One such 10 g of pre-bioM is in the night before you sleep.
It gives you a relax and cleansing effect, and this one in the morning gives you the energy in the morning, 10 g also.
Is there enough understanding amongst consumers of the term prebiotic, and does it create quite a bit of confusion?
This is a big jargon problems for probiotic and prebiotic, as you know.
It's a weird thing, the difference is only O1E.
So probiotic is bacteria.
I wonder why we scientists call it probiotic and the food for it is called prebiotic.
So we should find another term for that, just like calling a human, humane, the food for human, humane.
I don't know.
Who knows, maybe a few years down the line you might want to reconsider a rebranding.
Exactly, exactly.
Very good.
Thank you very much.
