Youtheory harnesses hydrolyzed collagen for bones, hair, skin, joints and heart
01 Mar 2021 --- US-based Youtheory has launched a collagen combo line of five products, which harness the impact of hydrolyzed collagen and other clinically studied ingredients with proven benefits. The products target the body’s most critical collagen-containing tissues: bones, hair, skin, joints and the heart.
“Many people do not know that while collagen is vital to skin health, it also provides protein beyond the skin and throughout the whole body,” says Dr. Nick Bitz, Youtheory’s chief scientific officer.
According to Innova Market Insights, supplement launches featuring collagen ingredients have a CAGR of 28 percent (Global, 2016 to 2020). While skin health is the top positioning, joint and bone health are in second and third place, respectively.
“Our bodies’ collagen decreases as we age. [The tablets] include branded ingredients specific to each target area in addition to our specialty hydrolyzed collagen, working together to achieve optimal inner health,” continues Bitz.
Appealing delivery formats
The line – which delivers 2,500 to 3,000 mg of collagen – arrives in mini-tablets. Youtheory says that these are an easy-to-consume preferred delivery format for customers.
Skin Collagen+ combines hydrolyzed collagen with CeraLOK, a clinically studied phytoceramide made from rice that is considered the “ultimate” skin moisturizer. This formula increases skin moisture levels and replenishes collagen to boost skin hydration.
Meanwhile, Hair Collagen+ makes use of biotin and bioactive keratin (Cynatine) to help reduce hair loss. It is also touted as improving hair strength, shine and brightness while replenishing collagen.
The company notes that hair follicles and their surrounding skin mainly consist of collagen as a foundation for healthy locks.
In other similar launches, Viviscal recently introduced its Hair Therapy line of mix-in powder supplements, which also feature biotin and collagen.
Harnessing vitamin D3 and K2
In addition to addressing outwardly visible collagen needs, Youtheory’s range also addresses collagen’s uses that lie below the surface.
For example, collagen is significant to bone structure, making up 30 percent of bone mass and 90 percent of the bones’ non-mineral part.
Bone Collagen+ uses hydrolyzed collagen, vitamin D3 and K2 – the two essential nutrients commonly lacking in the modern diet – and multi-mineral complex Aquamin to support healthy bone density, increase bone mineralization and replenish collagen.
The combination of vitamin D3 and K2 has been in the spotlight for the way they each function more effectively in the presence of the other. Kappa Bioscience has even gone so far as to dub the combination “the perfect pair.”
Addressing joints and heart
Meanwhile, Joint Collagen+ supplies a blend of hydrolyzed collagen and Boswellia to provide fast-acting results for healthy joints.
Youtheory notes that collagen makes up nearly 90 percent of cartilage and 75 percent of tendons and ligaments.
In this space, Fortigel, one of Gelita’s specific Bioactive Collagen Peptides (BCP) offerings, was recently shown to regenerate cartilage, maintain joint mobility and minimize joint discomfort.
Finally, hydrolyzed collagen works together with vitamin K2 and resveratrol in Heart Collagen+ to support healthy blood flow, maintain flexible arteries and replenish collagen.
This is essential as collagen makes up nearly 10 percent of the heart muscle and 50 percent of blood vessels.
