According to Innova Market Insights data, supplement launches supporting the gut-brain axis increased by 25% CAGR from April 2019 to March 2024. The use of probiotic ingredients in such supplements is also gaining traction, with the market researcher indicating a 22% average annual growth in probiotic ingredients used in supplements with a digestive and brain health claim in the same time frame.
Expanded research into the health benefits of probiotics and gut health products supports product innovations. Recently, scientists reviewed studies using functional MRI methodologies on probiotics’ effects on mental well-being through the gut. They found promising results but also called for more rigorous research.
