Sirio’s LifeChews: Innovative plant-based chewable “jelly tablets” for lipid supplements
Key takeaways
- Sirio Europe launched a patented plant-based jelly tablet designed to improve the taste and convenience of high-dose lipid supplements.
- The technology uses microscopic oil droplets to achieve significantly higher bioavailability and nutrient absorption compared to standard formats.
- This delivery system allows for high concentrations of active ingredients like omega-3s and vitamins without the typical issues of oxidation or unpleasant aftertaste.
Sirio Europe has unveiled LifeChews — a patented, chewable “jelly tablet” supplement in Europe. The new plant-based delivery format addresses growing consumer demand for efficacy, taste, and convenience in lipid-based supplements.
Clinically proven to significantly improve bioavailability, the delivery format is optimized for “excellent dispersibility” across a wide range of oil-soluble actives while enabling high nutrient payloads.
The Europe launch is part of Sirio’s global rollout of LifeChews. The integrated manufacturer created a range of concepts featuring this new format, aiming to create supplements that are “effective and enjoyable.”
“LifeChews are a game-changer in how consumers experience supplements,” says Sara Lesina, general manager, Sirio Europe. “They combine convenience, great taste, and a meaningful nutrient boost in a plant-based chewable jelly format people actually enjoy.”

“By bringing together clinical validation and a high payload capacity, LifeChews give our partner brands a powerful new way to stand out in key trending categories and deliver real added value to consumers.”
LifeChews is designed to meet these demands among high-strength, lipid-soluble nutrients. They are suitable for many active ingredients, including omega-3 oils, fat-soluble vitamins, CoQ10, and carotenoids, such as lutein and astaxanthin. For example, at last week’s Expo West 2026, the company unveiled a lutein soft chew for eye health for the US market.
Market-ready concepts
Sirio Europe will unveil four “market-ready” concepts it has developed using this jelly tablet format, while striking a balance between taste and efficacy. The company will premier the LifeChews at the Innovation for the Future Summit In Berlin, Germany, later this month.
LifeChews are clinically proven to improve bioavailability and are optimized for dispersibility across a wide range of oil-soluble actives while enabling high nutrient payloads. With its high-strength lipid nutrients, the range addresses key consumer health priorities, including brain, heart, and immune health, as well as longevity.
For optimized nutrient absorption, the patented LifeChews technology ensures uniform dispersion of 5 μm oil droplets — comparable to lipid particle sizes found in human milk.
The company says studies found that LifeChews achieved a 161% higher blood plasma docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) concentration versus a control, representing a 198% improvement in bioavailability. Additional digestion studies confirmed even distribution of DHA during simulated gastric and intestinal conditions, highlighting the format’s stability and efficiency.
“For nutraceutical brands, this combination of scientific validation, high payload, and consumer-friendly plant-based format provides clear differentiation in the rapidly growing, yet highly competitive omega-3 and lipid-based supplement categories,” details the company.
Offering chewable convenience
According to Innova Market Insights research, supplement consumers are seeking greater convenience and concentrated products that deliver higher doses in smaller amounts. They also want products that are more palatable so that they don’t grow tired of taking them.
Data from the market researcher spanning the past five years highlights that chewable formats are performing particularly well within sports nutrition new product development, driven mainly by North America and Australasia. For instance, gummies’ penetration in sports supplement launches grew from 2% between 2020–2021 to 17% in 2024–2025, surpassing tablets as the second top format.
However, Sirio Europe flags that historic formulation challenges, such as poor dispersibility, oxidation, and unpleasant aftertastes, have historically limited the development of lipid-based nutrient formulations in on-the-go, chewable formats.
Exploring these challenges in depth, Nutrition Insight previously spoke with Lesina about the intricacies of formulating gummies with active ingredients while examining the performance elements of Sirio’s XtraGummies, designed for high-absorption ingredients.
