Key takeaways
- Rousselot has received a US patent for its collagen peptide ingredient Nextida GC, designed to support post-meal blood sugar management.

- The patent protects both the use of Nextida GC as a dietary supplement ingredient and its production process.

Darling Ingredients brand Rousselot has received a US patent for its collagen peptide ingredient Nextida GC. The ingredient is developed to support blood sugar levels after meals, and the patent protects the use of Nextida as a dietary supplement ingredient and its production process.
The company notes Nextida GC offers a non-pharmaceutical option for managing blood glucose through science-backed nutrition.
“This patent reinforces the scientific foundation behind Nextida GC and highlights Darling Ingredients’ ability to translate its collagen expertise into targeted health solutions,” says Randall Stuewe, chairman and CEO of Darling Ingredients.
“As demand grows for natural, non-pharmaceutical approaches to health and wellness, we are strengthening our leadership in collagen peptide health ingredients while building a broader pipeline of Nextida solutions.”
The new patent is granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office with patent number US12636339.
Prior clinical trials have shown that Nextida GC may boost GLP-1 response. It was designed to control the “glucose rollercoaster” in healthy individuals and share strategies to manage glucose fluctuations, the company previously told Nutrition Insight.
“In preclinical and clinical studies, we’ve observed that Nextida GC naturally stimulates GLP-1 and GIP (gastric inhibitory polypeptide) secretion, supporting insulin response and reducing post-meal blood glucose spikes,” Florencia Moreno Torres, global marketing manager at Rousselot by Darling Ingredients, recently told us.
“Consumers need only eat or drink a small snack or beverage with Nextida GC 30 minutes before a meal to achieve these effects.”
