Rousselot and Gelnex to showcase gelatin and collagen innovations at FiE 2023
13 Nov 2023 --- At the upcoming Food Ingredients Europe (FiE) trade show, Rousselot and Gelnex will showcase their collagen and gelatin offerings, showcasing technological advancements, scientific support for their benefits and new product concepts.
“This event marks an opportunity to showcase how impactful our partnership is in uniting expertise to serve customers better,” Caroline Brochard-Garnier, director of communications & PR at Rousselot, tells Nutrition Insight.
“We will demonstrate the immense range of gelatins, collagens, solutions and scientific knowledge we can offer, providing customers with an unprecedented breadth of capabilities. Our joint stand clarifies that Rousselot and Gelnex are reshaping the industry landscape.”
Brochard-Garnier says the companies will provide a “glimpse into the future” at the stand’s innovation area. Rousselot and Gelnex will unveil new product concepts that harness the potential of their collagen and gelatin portfolio to meet emerging consumer demands cost-efficiently. These were developed at Rousselot’s global application center.
“Visitors can expect to discover the science behind our ingredients and how they enable food and nutrition brands to formulate functional, better-for-you and delicious applications.”
Both companies are part of Darling Ingredients, which acquired Gelnex in March 2023.
“Collagen throughout the day”
Visitors at the joint stand can try out various collagen-enriched samples across categories from beverages to savory dishes, highlights Brochard-Garnier.
“For experiencing our ingredients’ limitless applications, the ‘collagen throughout the day’ area will showcase the versatility of Peptan, Peptinex and ProTake collagen through sampling sessions at specific times.”
“From 10-11 AM, guests can begin their day with a vitalizing breakfast of coffee, orange juice and chocolate with added collagen peptides.”
From 1-2 PM, the company will provide visitors with savory dishes reformulated with collagen, such as tomato soup, appetizer sticks and dips.
“To end the day, the last sampling from 4-5 PM will allow attendees to enjoy delicious, collagen-enriched pancakes, high-protein bites and more,” shares Brochard-Garnier. “Overall, these samples will showcase how our solutions can help manufacturers meet the demand for functional foods.”

At FiE, Gelnex’s gelatin corner will highlight gelatin’s functional properties and benefits in natural-tasting treats and better-for-you product formulations. Visitors will be able to see the versatility of the gelling agent in Rousselot and Gelnex offerings and the product concepts available.
“Prototypes will include gummies boasting a Nutri-Score A through lowered sugar and increased fiber,” highlights Brochard-Garnier.
“The show will be an opportunity to discuss the advancement in gummies formulation to improve their Nutri-Score. Gummies typically score poorly at a D because of their high sugar content.”
She adds that the companies’ application center successfully formulated different recipes to upgrade gummies’ Nutri-Score to A.
“Despite the sugar replacer used, thanks to Rousselot’s gelatin technology, these innovations maintain the elasticity and firmness that gummy fans love while boosting their nutritional profile with less sugar and a higher fiber content.”
Collagen health benefits
Scientific research shows collagen supplements can address many trending concerns, underscores Brochard-Garnier.
“Rousselot’s flagship collagen peptide brand Peptan, for example, is renowned for offering multifaceted benefits — from boosting beauty-from-within to supporting mobility and sports recovery.”
“Clinical studies suggest that Peptan collagen peptides can help improve skin hydration and boost hair strength in both genders.”
She adds that research shows collagen peptides can reduce exercise-induced muscle soreness and alleviate joint discomfort, contributing to a faster post-exercise recovery and better mobility overall.
“Furthermore, a pioneering fully digital study found a daily dose of 20 g collagen peptide supplement may alleviate mild digestive symptoms like bloating without lifestyle changes, highlighting potential gut health benefits.”
A recent study suggested that daily supplementation with Peptan before bedtime can enhance sleep quality, reducing sleep awakening by 30% and better cognitive performance vs placebo.
“With collagen demonstrating diverse benefits from beauty to gut health, it offers an all-in-one solution for active consumers across life stages. This growing scientific evidence reinforces collagen’s functional benefits for general well-being inside and out,” Brochard-Garnier concludes.
