Clinical trial reveals Nutriventi’s ashwagandha nutraceutical improves stress relief and sleep
Key takeaways
- Nutriventia’s Prolanza (ashwagandha) reduced stress and improved sleep quality in healthy adults, with both 150 mg and 300 mg doses showing effectiveness.
- The study shows that both doses improved psychological well-being and eating behavior, with the 300 mg dose also reducing cortisol levels.
- Prolanza’s sustained-release formulation effectively improved stress levels, sleep quality, and psychological well-being, according to the trial.

Indian nutraceutical company Nutriventia’s Prolanza ashwagandha supplement has been demonstrated in a new clinical study to be effective for managing stress in healthy adults.
Prolanza is known as Ashwanova in certain markets and was shown to be effective at a daily dose of 150 mg.
“Building on our commitment to delivering scientifically validated, consumer-friendly nutraceuticals, this study demonstrates that even a low daily dose of Prolanza can significantly reduce perceived stress, while also improving sleep quality, feelings of happiness, and eating behaviors,” says Rajat Mittal Shah, co-founder of Nutriventia.
“This sustained-release formulation offers a convenient once-daily regimen, supporting better compliance without compromising efficacy.”
Multiple health benefits
The study has been published in Medicine and included 135 healthy adults experiencing moderate stress aged between 20 and 55.

The participants were divided randomly into three groups receiving either 150 mg or 300 mg of Prolanza, or a placebo for 60 days.
The research team measured the outcomes: perceived stress, sleep quality, happiness levels, serum cortisol levels, and eating behavior — cognitive restraint, uncontrolled eating, and emotional eating.
Both 150 mg and 300 mg daily doses of Prolanza showed decreases in perceived stress by 38.6% and 41.6%, respectively, when compared to placebo.
Prolanza showed decreases in perceived stress by up to 38.6% when compared to placebo. In comparison to the placebo, both doses also showed an increased sleep quality, happiness levels, and eating behavior, and did not report any safety concerns.
The higher dose of 300 mg reduced serum cortisol levels by 19.15% when measured at day 60, which the company says indicates a biological effect on stress regulation.
“Along with revalidating the beneficial effects of Prolanza 300 mg in reducing stress and improving sleep and psychological well-being, this study has additionally demonstrated the benefits of Prolanza 300 mg in reducing stress-related eating,” comments Dr. Shefali Thanawala, assistant vice president, Medical Sciences and Research.
“Importantly, improvements were observed across all these parameters even with the 150 mg of Prolanza. Thus, this study is instrumental in strengthening the scientific evidence for effective use of both doses of Prolanza, while maintaining consumer-friendly convenience and compliance with just one-a-day doses.”
Ashwaghanda in the news
National food safety agencies in the EU and UK have previously raised concerns associated with the botanical used for several thousand years in traditional remedies. The ingredient is banned in food supplements in Denmark, while Dutch and French authorities advised against its consumption in specific population groups.
However, botanical experts underscored that a decent amount of data exists to address most of these flagged safety risks, which include the botanical’s purported use as an abortifacient, potential influence on thyroid and immune function, and likelihood of hepatotoxicity.
Meanwhile, previous studies have also shown that ashwagandha extracts may aid falling asleep, as well as improve sleep quality and duration, and reduce symptoms of mild anxiety and general stress, especially in individuals with a history of chronic stress.
