NutriLeads plant-based prebiotic from upcycled carrot pomace scores health innovation accolade
11 Sep 2023 --- Precision prebiotics innovator NutriLeads has developed a low-dose dietary supplement, BeniCaros, from upcycled carrot pomace, which has been named “best product” in the health innovation category for plant-based innovation at the Plant Based World Expo in New York City, US.
The product is tasteless, odorless, water-soluble and heat and pH stable. Its formulation works with most dietary supplements, foods and beverages. The company’s patented technology platform harnesses the power of naturally bioactive prebiotic fibers known as Rhamnogalacturonan-I from select crops.

Gut resilience
BeniCaros is clinically proven to train smarter and stronger innate immune system responses. It also consistently modulates the gut microbiota composition, promoting resilience of the gut’s ecosystem, which is vital for strong immune function and overall well-being.
The supplement comes in daily doses of 300 mg, allowing for a wider variety of product innovation opportunities.
The awards celebrate innovations across the plant-based food and beverage industry and included more than 140 entries from 20 countries across 17 categories this year.
BeniCaros was awarded best product in the health innovation category at the Plant Based World Expo, US.

Immune health
The prebiotic properties of BeniCaros drawn from soluble fiber have been researched for several years. A NutriLeads study in 2021 demonstrated its effectiveness in supporting gut and immune health.
In 2022, a company-commissioned study revealed that BeniCaros supports the immune system and reduces symptoms of common colds in humans.
Meanwhile, Bayer’s natural product line Stem & Root is harnessing BeniCaros in its latest launch, a soluble polysaccharide “unlocked from the carrot cell wall,” which is paired with zinc in the new Stem & Root Daily Immunity blend available to US consumers.
