Nutrabolt purchases 20% of Bloom Nutrition to propel growth and innovation in wellness supplements
18 Jan 2024 ---US-based active health and wellness company Nutrabolt announces an investment into the Los Angeles-based supplement supplier Bloom Nutrition. The investment is part of the company’s US$90 million in financing, including funding from Clayton Christopher and Amberstone investor enterprises.
The capital Bloom Nutrition will receive as part of the investment will be utilized to expand the business through demand-generation activities, product innovation and improving internal capabilities that support growth. The company’s co-founders remain the majority shareholders following the investment.
“When we started this company, we could’ve never imagined building such a huge community and inspiring so many to begin their wellness journeys,” says Mari Llewellyn, who founded Bloom Nutrition alongside Gregory LaVecchia. “Our goal at Bloom has always been to help everyone ‘bloom’ into their best selves through nutritious supplements. It’s an incredible honor to have Nutrabolt join us in extending our mission further.”
“We are very excited to partner with Mari and Greg, two entrepreneurial founders, during the next phase of their company’s growth,” adds Nutrabolt’s Chairman and CEO Doss Cunningham. “They’ve built a strong brand and business over the past 4.5 years, yet there is whitespace to pursue in the form of new product platforms and distribution opportunities.”
Company expansion
Llewellyn and LaVecchia founded Bloom Nutrition in 2019 as a direct-to-consumer business, which expanded into an omni-channel company. Bloom now ranks as the best-performing Greens brand in the US and is one of the fastest-growing supplement brands of the decade, with its Greens & Superfoods product being among its most sought-after.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Nutrabolt in taking our company to new heights. Their expertise and resources as industry leaders will enable us to scale effectively, fuel sales growth and accelerate innovation. This is a significant leap forward, and we could not be more excited to embark on this next phase of growth together,” asserts LaVecchia.
“It’s rare to find people like Mari and Greg who are so passionate about a lifestyle that they decide to make it their life’s work and create a business around it, but that is what happened here,” Cunningham comments. “Beyond their growth and category leadership, it was their authenticity and love for the space that attracted Nutrabolt most to this opportunity.”
In 2022, Bloom partnered with Target to roll out its Greens & Superfoods powder nationwide in its first retail expansion beyond its DTC channels.
The Bloom signature powder ingredient list features natural ingredients, including barley grass, wheatgrass and spirulina, more than 30 essential nutrients, whole fruits and vegetables, fibers and probiotics, with no artificial flavors or colors. The powder reduces bloating, improves digestion, boosts natural energy, supports the immune system and gut and facilitates healthy skin.
Last summer, Nutrabolt’s supplement brand C4 partnered with the WWE to launch a product line collaboration featuring supplements for fitness enthusiasts formulated to optimize performance and support well-being.
