Nourished seals deal with Neutrogena to 3D-print skincare supplements for personalized beauty
05 Jan 2023 --- Birmingham tech startup Nourished has launched its 3D-printed skincare supplements with beauty giant Neutrogena at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, US, this week. Skin360 SkinStacks leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to make personalized, holistic skin health routines simple and accessible for consumers.
“We are grounded in the belief that beauty begins with healthy skin and are proud of a heritage that consistently delivers skincare solutions built at the intersection of science and technology, in a way that makes sophisticated science simple and inclusive for our consumers,” says Roberto Khoury, senior vice president at Neutrogena.
Nourished creates personalized supplements by layering various vitamin gummies to aid different health needs.
“Working with Nourished allows us to further that commitment by marrying our digital skin assessment with its 3D printing technology to create dietary supplements to help consumers meet their personal skincare goals,” says Khoury.
Digital skin assessment
Each Skinstack is facilitated by Neutrogena’s Skin360 digital skin assessment, which uses roughly 100,000 skin pixels to analyze more than 2,000 facial attributes and consumers’ skin requirements.
The data is used to identify and recommend a nutrient stack and topical routine for the user to help achieve their specific skin health goal. Each vegan, sugar-free, vitamin gummy stack has seven layers.
Each box contains 28 blackcurrant-flavored gummy vitamins designed to be taken daily. The product is suitable for anyone from 13 years of age upward. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking supplements.
Selecting a customized skin stack
Consumers begin purchasing their personalized skin care gummies by visiting SkinStacks. The interface guides them to a scanner where they will take a selfie.
Afterward, they will take a quiz about their skincare routine and goals. Ingredients will be selected based on the assessment and a stack will be selected to match their primary goals. The customer is then redirected to Nourished’s site to purchase the stack.

These novel platforms are considered viable alternatives to large imaging booth hardware based on performance.
A Japan-based research collaboration between Kirin Holdings, FANCL and Keio University has resulted in an enhanced cleansing agent developer using AI and molecular simulation technologies. This can be used when developing a cleanser with a “high makeup removal function.” The cleansing and washing process is expected to reduce cleansing time, save water and thus, lower environmental impacts.
Meanwhile, researchers in Switzerland are developing an AI and algorithm-powered app to calculate the nutritional value of meals made in the Mediterranean diet style.
According to the study, the inability of most apps to correctly calculate the nutritional value of this diet is the main reason consumers reject calorie intake and meal-tracking apps.
