Noom and Livinti partner to create step-therapy companion for weight loss
11 Jan 2024 --- Digital healthcare company Noom is partnering with Livinti, to offer metabolic health support with the Noom GLP-1 Companion for plan sponsors and their employees. The program is being offered through the Noom for Work division and includes weight and diabetes prevention modules.

In addition, personalized nutrition specialist Infinit Nutrition launched its Performance Labs platform to improve athletes’ approach to hydration, electrolyte monitoring and nutrition. The platform leverages wearable technology and nutrition coaching services.
Comprehensive support
The Noom GLP-1 Companion is designed to help members through every phase of weight loss from the initial onboarding stage onto the crucial phases of off-ramping medication and weight maintenance. It provides help with nutrition and exercise and ensures adherence to medications.
“GLP-1s are an important new tool for weight loss. But, they alone are not enough. As many as 68% of people don’t remain on a GLP-1 long-term for a variety of reasons. And for those that do, the rapid weight loss can endanger lean muscle mass unless care is taken to increase protein intake and engage in resistance training,” says Dr. Linda Anegawa, chief of medicine at Noom.
“We also know that when people stop taking the medication without adequate lifestyle support, the weight comes back. With this weight regain and without rebuilding muscle, further insulin resistance can leave the patient worse off.”
Coaching and content specifications
The digital companion compiles comprehensive coaching and content support with psychology-based habit change into a holistic treatment plan for members who use GLP-1 medication.
Features include the integration with a pharmacy benefit manager prior to authorization processes. It offers a tailored approach to Noom’s well-known “green-yellow-orange” food color scheme with over 200,000 protein-rich foods now marked “green.”
It has a protein-tracking tool to help members hit their daily protein requirements, in addition to important food logging, water tracking and step-tracking tools. There are fitness-focused lessons and videos for people at all activity levels, designed to prevent the muscle loss associated with GLP-1 use and expert guidance on the common side effects, complications and resilience surrounding weight loss medications.
