Natural ingredients supplier Acme-Hardesty creates “Life Sciences” business unit
28 Jan 2022 --- Specialty ingredients supplier and manufacturer Acme-Hardesty, a division of Jacob Stern and Sons, is opening a new strategic business unit (SBU) under the name Life Sciences. The company hopes to use the unit to maximize its product-offerings and supply capacity.
The unit will be dedicated to the market areas of nutritional supplements, F&B, animal feed and supplements, as well as pharmaceutical ingredients.
Acme-Hardesty is best known for its emulsifiers and oleochemicals like coconut medium chain triglyceride (MCT), glycerine, fatty acids and, especially, castor oil.
Brian McGrath, vice president of Life Sciences, says: “We will initially focus our sales efforts on our current product offerings including materials such as MCTs, glycerine, proteins, botanicals, prebiotics and natural sweeteners while we expand into other product platforms.”
President of Acme-Hardesty, Jeff Kenton, says: “With our new Life Sciences business unit, we will leverage our organizational systems, technology platforms and supply chains. This will enable us to deliver even greater value to our customers within this market segment.”
“This is an important chapter for Acme-Hardesty as we look forward to expanding our reach and capabilities in the Life Sciences segment,” affirmed Kenton.
Sustainable ingredients and specialty chemicals
Acme-Hardesty has served the nutrition, personal care, pharmaceutical industry for over seven decades, providing specialty ingredients as well as supplying professional guidance to its clients. Its product line-up features many offerings specialized to the F&B industry.
The company also offers natural sweeteners from sources like vegetables, roots, trees, nuts and seeds. Acme-Hardesty says its naturally-derived sweeteners osmolarity or solute concentration helps prevent the growth of mold or bacteria.
Food additives such as metallic stearates as well as prebiotics like PreBioM from its partner PreBioUSA are also a part of Acme-Hardesty’s lineup.
In addition, the company offers a very broad range of plant-derived protein, including that from peas, white beans, hemp seeds, mung beans, rice, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.
Acme-Hardesty supplies a range of sustainably sourced natural botanical ingredients to its clients, such as that derived from turmeric, ashwagandha, ginseng and amla.
