South Africa’s Montego Pet Nutrition is expanding into Europe with the introduction of its Karoo Wild and Bags o’ Wags treat ranges to the Netherlands — a market where discerning dog owners are increasingly seeking premium, natural, and nutrient-rich snacks.

At a time when “pet parents” increasingly demand transparency, alternative proteins, and functional nutrition for their canine companions, Montego says its Karoo Wild stands out as a premium, innovative range.

African antelope treats

Made with African antelope — a rare protein source in European pet retail — the treats are designed for dogs with dietary sensitivities. They’re grain- and gluten-free, and artificial additive-free. Moreover, the company says the offerings are enriched with ingredients like whole egg powder and sweet potato for added nutrition.

Herbs such as rosemary, oregano, and thyme boost the flavor and deliver antioxidant support. The company says the result is soft, chewy morsels that balance rich taste with high protein and low fat, while supplying essential nutrients like iron, amino acids, and B vitamins.

Furthermore, the company says that the two ranges give retailers the flexibility to appeal to a wide range of consumers — from the budget-conscious to the boutique shopper.
