Lutein and Zeaxanthin Enriched Egg Yolk Shown to Benefit Eye Health

22 Apr 2014 --- The results from the 90-day study on NWT-02/MacuView have been published. The name of the article reads: "The Effect of Modified Eggs and an Egg Yolk-Based Beverage Lutein and Zeaxanthin Concentrations on Serum and Macular Pigment Optical Density: Results from a Randomized Trial."

The results show that daily consumption of lutein and zeaxanthin enriched egg yolk and a dairy beverage based on this cause an increase in the serum lutein and zeaxanthin concentrations. The dairy drink that has been tested is NWT-02, a combination of lutein enriched egg yolk and buttermilk. MacuView is the spray dried version of NWT-02, and has the same consistent and effective absorption into the body.

The main conclusion drawn in the article is that the significant increase in serum lutein and zeaxanthin concentrations in the blood after daily consumption of a lutein enriched egg yolk drink, that only contains 1 mg lutein, is similar todietary supplements containing 5 mg lutein.
