Lehvoss Nutrition unveils superfood blend for PlantNutra brand
09 Feb 2022 --- Nutraceutical ingredient distributor Lehvoss Nutrition is releasing a new plant based line for its existing PlantNutra brand. Included in this range, the new PlantNutra blend features fruits and berries, greens, vegetables and plant enzymes.
Lehvoss Nutrition states the superfood blends complement its existing PlantNutra line, including acerola-based natural vitamin D, natural potassium, natural vitamin E succinate, holy basil, ginger, ashwagandha and natural vitamin C.
“Under the PlantNutra brand, we include selected, high-quality plant-based ingredients, with the aim to offer solutions aligned with the current market trends,” Teresita Rudà, head of brands and marketing nutraceuticals at Lehvoss Nutrition, tells NutritionInsight.
This project has started just very recently and Lehvoss expects to be adding more ingredients this year. Clean label and sustainability are essential in this project.
Convenient for on-the-go consumers
Lehvoss PlantNutras’ blend is pegged as a “ready-to-order blend,” making it a convenient choice for customers who don’t have the time or resources to start a development project from the beginning. It also has a clean label, meaning it is devoid of pesticides and excipients.
According to the company, superfood blends enhance the immune system, improve energy and promote healthy digestion due to their highly concentrated vitamin profile. The “superfood” blend features fruits and berries, greens, vegetables and plant enzymes (Credit: Lehvoss Nutrition).
Lehvoss Nutrition adds that green superfood powders are a good alternative for individuals on the go, although they will never replace a balanced diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables.
Concentrating on botanical extracts
Lehvoss Nutrition has narrowed down its offer to allow it to concentrate only on scientifically driven, well-known branded ingredients and a high-quality selection of botanical extracts from crucial selected partners, Rudà explains.
“This is just the beginning. Lehvoss Nutrition has a team of experienced professionals with long experience in the industry. Being part of the Lehvoss Group is also a great asset and our strategic plan for the next five years is very ambitious.”
Regarding the superfoods PlantNutra will offer, Rudà adds that the company is looking at various options at the moment. “To date, we have included a natural and 100% clean label green superfood blend.”
“We are also about to approve a natural source of calcium,” adds Rudà.
PlantNutra’s amla offering is an antioxidant standardized to 45% tannins, 10% gallic acid and 1% vitamin C. Meanwhile, the holy basil is pegged as “one of the most preeminent herbs used in Ayurveda with scientific data showing its adaptogenic benefits.”
Rudà adds that the ashwagandha is “standardized to 1.5% by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).”
Tracking Lehvoss’s previous moves
Lehvoss Nutrition previously partnered with Engredo – a specialized provider of ingredients for the supplement industry – to improve its position in the Nordic nutraceuticals sector.
Additionally, Lehvoss Nutrition added Verdure Sciences’ Tinofend ingredient to its product line. In clinical studies, Tinofend was previously shown to provide allergy support and improve immune function.
Lehvoss Nutrition also set out to strengthen its position in the seaweed sector.
