Lean Factor releases EmpowHER, targeting women’s stress
23 Mar 2022 --- Wellness company Lean Factor is unveiling its EmpowHER supplement, featuring an adaptogen blend that may alleviate adverse effects of prolonged stress in women. EmpowHER contains 52 natural herbs, vitamins and minerals.
“EmpowHER targets the main problems and complaints so many women have in this stressful world,” Jonathan Parker, director of nutrition sciences at Lean Factor, tells NutritionInsight.
“These issues include lack of energy, poor sleep, headaches, unwanted weight gain, brain fog, anxiety, depression, premature aging and unbalanced hormones, which can cause PMS and menopause symptoms such as hot flashes.”
“EmpowHER can bring a change to industry by addressing the root of these problems – chronic stress rather than treating the symptoms with drugs that have adverse and sometimes dangerous side effects,” says Parker.
Lowering stress
The specific adaptogen herbs in EmpowHer that have been shown to reduce stress include ashwagandha, Panax ginseng, eleuthero, Rhodiola, schizandra, American ginseng, Shatavari and shilajit, explains Parker.
According to the company, adaptogen herbs have been proven to reduce cortisol to a safe level, therefore offering protection from the dangers of chronic stress.
“An additional way adaptogens support good health is by increasing immunity,” adds Parker.
“When people are under chronic or prolonged stress, whether it’s mental, emotional, or physical stress, the production of cortisol in the body does not stop. Studies show that cortisol continually circulating in the bloodstream is very damaging to the body. It suppresses the immune system and it can cause chronic inflammation.”
Ingredients targeting fatigue, anxiety and PMS
The EmpowHER supplement also addresses hormonal issues. Parker explains: “By balancing all the hormones in the body, women can experience relief from the common problems associated with PMS and menopause.”
“One herb in particular, when used in combination with the other anti-stress herbs, is Shatavari, which reduces headaches and eases cramps, promotes sound sleep and reduces fatigue.”
Park explains which ingredients in the supplement target stress, fatigue and boost stamina.
“The ashwagandha in EmpowHER is an anti-stress adaptogen with proven anti-aging properties and combats mental and physical fatigue. Ashwagandha is widely used as a natural sleep aid and supports brain health and memory.
Meanwhile, Rhodiola rosea boosts endorphins, reduces stress-related hormones and levels blood sugar, which aids in weight loss, he explains.
“EmpowHer includes Panax ginseng, which safeguards immunity, relieves fatigue, increases stamina and improves glucose regulation. Shilajit is a herbo-mineral that nourishes the body with over 70 trace minerals. Minerals can help balance insulin levels and support a healthy blood sugar level resulting in fat loss.”
Women’s health “moves away” from Western medicine
Current trends in women’s health are moving away from conventional Western medicine – which relies primarily upon synthetic pharmaceutical drugs – toward natural ways to resolve physical, emotional and mental issues, Parker explains.
“There’s a growing trend toward herbal medicines, which have been used successfully for thousands of years in many ancient cultures, including traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic traditions.”
“Studies show that when adaptogens are combined, they become much more effective than just taking one adaptogen on its own. To our knowledge, EmpowHer is the only women’s supplement on the market that combines many different adaptogens,” he adds.
Improving women’s health
Industry players have been looking for improved ways to cater to women’s health needs.
A roundtable of industry experts observed that many aspects of women’s health, such as mental health and sexual wellness, are currently underserved, allowing for plenty of room for innovation.
Recently, FemTec Health, a women’s health and science company, partnered with GeniusRx, an online prescription pharmacy, to establish the Awesome Woman platform. Women of all ages can have personalized and convenient access to medicines and vitamins.
Amyris, a synthetic biotechnology firm, expanded into the menopausal health space by purchasing the assets of MenoLabs, a company that helps raise awareness of the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.
