Gryphon snaps up Metagenics as healthcare practitioners and patients seek nutritional programs
20 Oct 2021 --- Middle-market private equity firm Gryphon Investors is acquiring Metagenics, a nutraceutical company that develops and manufactures lifestyle medicines. The acquisition will bolster Metagenics’ portfolio of global nutritional solutions recommended by healthcare practitioners.
The financial terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021, were not disclosed.
Metagenics uses nutritional genomics to create nutrition programs and products to support health. Its nutraceuticals and nutritional supplements also support blood sugar, stress management and cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, immune, joint health. While it is based in the US, the company has facilities in North America, Europe and Australia.
Expanding nutritional program reach
Metagenics is positioned as a leader among nutrition brands recommended by healthcare practitioners across its three core geographic markets, details Mike Ferry, operating partner at Gryphon.

The transaction marks Gryphon’s third investment in consumer health products and first in the nutritional health category.
Offering nutraceuticals globally
Metagenics offers approximately 850 natural health products across several functional areas, from immune health to women’s health. The company has partnered with healthcare practitioners for over 35 years. These healthcare practitioners recommend nutritional products to support their patients’ health with measurable results.
“Healthcare practitioners and their patients are increasingly focused on making proactive healthy lifestyle choices, and nutrition is a necessary part of that effort,” adds Fagan.
Metagenics’ offering
Metagenics’ women’s health product portfolio includes UltraFlora Women’s, a blend of probiotics taken orally to help maintain a healthy vaginal microflora and support urogenital health.
The company also offers Estrovera, a supplement that supports menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes, sleep disturbances, mood swings and irritability. Estrovera features ERr731, also known as Siberian rhubarb extract.
Yesterday NutritionInsight reported on Hum Nutrition’s estrogen-free menopause relief supplement that features Siberian rhubarb extract. Meanwhile, Metagenics’ dietary supplement, Menohop Soy Extract, reported it can help relieve menopause symptoms such as moodiness and lack of sleep.
