Florajen Probiotics launches ingestible probiotic that improves atopic dermatitis
16 Aug 2021 --- Florajen Probiotics has launched its first skin health product, Florajen Eczema, a refrigerated medical food that is clinically shown to reduce atopic dermatitis, commonly referred to as eczema.
Florajen Eczema has been shown to improve symptoms of eczema and reduce reliance on steroidal topical treatments in a clinical trial conducted at the Esthetic Dermatology Center in Spain.
According to the National Eczema Association, eczema impacts more than 31.6 million US adults and affects up to 20 percent of children. Eczema is a condition regularly categorized as dry, itchy and red skin patches.
“So many of my patients with eczema often have to rely on multiple forms of treatment to manage their symptoms of itchiness and redness, and not always options they feel good about putting on or in their bodies,” says Marisa Garshick, dermatologist and Florajen skincare specialist.
“This daily Florajen Eczema probiotic has been shown to provide long-term relief while reducing symptoms and improving the overall quality of the skin.”
While there is no known cure for eczema, Florajen Probiotics can be taken daily to reduce eczema severity in current and future outbreaks. In a 12-week study, Florajen Eczema helped over 90 percent of participants achieve clear or almost clear skin.
Florajen Eczema in focus
Florajen Eczema’s probiotic blend is positioned to improve symptoms of redness, itchiness and inflammation by restoring balance and connecting microbes in the gastrointestinal system.
In a placebo-controlled study, over 90 percent of participants taking Florajen Eczema experienced clear or almost clear skin in 12 weeks. The study participants also experienced an 83 percent reduction in eczema severity and a 28 percent reduction in the number of days they used a topical steroid to treat flare-ups.
The company recommends Florajen Eczema should be taken under medical supervision. The product comes in packet form and can be consumed daily by mixing into a cold or room-temperature food, such as yogurt, apple sauce, ice cream or a cold or room-temperature, non-carbonated drink like water or juice.
The product is safe for children six months and older.
Probiotics are live bacteria, and when left unrefrigerated, they naturally die off at a quicker rate. Florajen Probiotics maintains a Cold Chain Commitment, which means that it is refrigerated throughout the product’s lifecycle to ensure that cell counts remain potent and consistent.
Ingestible beauty in demand
Industry players are showing interest in the ingestible beauty scene with new product developments featuring this claim. In this space, Monteloeder’s Zeropollution ingestible supplement combats skin aging and oxidative damage.
