Responding to growing demand, Burcon and its manufacturing partner, RE ProMan, are evaluating additional capacity expansion opportunities to support future customer requirements.
The company has developed a portfolio of high-performance protein ingredients for food and beverage products, including Peazzaz (pea), FavaPro (fava bean), and Puratein (canola), and focuses on commercializing its technologies through global manufacturing partnerships and a growing customer base.
“We are encouraged by the continued progress across both our operations and commercial activities,” says Kip Underwood, CEO of Burcon NutraScience Corporation.
“Increased record production levels, a growing base of buying customers, and continued capacity expansion efforts reflect a business gaining traction in the market. Our focus remains on scaling efficiently, supporting customer growth, and executing against our path to profitability.”

Record production
Over the past several weeks, the company reports it has achieved record production, increasing average daily output by approximately 40% as compared to the calendar Q1 average, which demonstrates its production capacity needed to achieve 2026 goals.
Burcon has expanded its commercial footprint to more than 20 buying customers across multiple food and beverage categories, including ready-to-mix beverages, nutrition products, and plant-based food applications, reflecting growing market adoption of its protein ingredients.
The company reports robust demand is being generated across its full product portfolio, including Peazzaz, FavaPro, and Puratein, which are designed to deliver high purity, functionality, taste, and solubility across a broad range of applications.
“Authentic Plant-Based” was recently ranked fifth in Innova Market Insights’ Top Ten Trends list for 2026. This trend emphasizes sustained interest in plant-based innovations, but more than mimicry, consumers are seeking products that support holistic well-being.
The data detailed that consumers generally seek naturalness across the board in the plant-based market, and the majority want brands to address artificiality. Notably, 64% of global consumers agree that plant-based products should be made with less processing.
Plant-based positionings also commonly overlap with clean label claims, with a majority of plant-based or vegan launches from 2024-2025 containing a clean label positioning.
