Biofach 2025 preview: Spotlight on organic nutraceuticals, healthier snacking, and sustainability

The organic food and nutrition industries will gather at the upcoming Biofach 2025 trade show in Nuremberg, Germany (February 11–14). Nutrition Insight examines the nutraceutical, nutrition, and healthy food offerings to be displayed at the world’s largest organic food trade show.

Vidya Europe will present its plant extracts and ingredients for functional food, nutraceutical, nutricosmetic, and cosmetic applications, the company’s COO, Arnaud Anandane, tells us. 

“Our ingredients help our customers to make innovations in formulations for the growing natural health trends (organic vitamins, high-protein, organic beauty supplements). Our ingredients are manufactured through solvent-free processes, allowing us to be more innovative in organic ingredients.”

Anandane explains that Vidya Europe will focus on its organic extracts, specifically beta-carotene, green coffee, and spice extracts from its French production sites. 

At booth 1-241, the company will showcase its ingredients, which are produced using “supercritical fluid technology for extracting high-value organic ingredients.”

Organic nutrition trends

Biofach’s trend jury points to increasing tension in the organic food market, saying that sustainability has become a less critical purchasing criterion as consumers value product variety and enjoyment at lower prices. 

At the same time, the team says health is becoming a key purchasing criterion for plant-based foods. “Rising quality demands are shifting the focus to innovative plant-based proteins: animal products must either be perfectly imitated or new, independent flavor experiences are needed, far removed from the claim of being a substitute.”

The jury says that consumers are looking for fun and creative snacks that do not adhere to strict health guidelines, convenient formats for culinary ease, beverages for every occasion, and innovative plant-based alternatives. 

Moreover, the team says interest in functional foods is constantly growing. “Sugar-reduced foods with extra protein, food supplements made from mushroom extracts, and fermented organic essences to boost the immune system make it easier than ever to promote your health through conscious nutrition.”

Meanwhile, the Lionheart Farms Philippines Corporation will introduce its nutritious and sustainable organic coconut flower sap-based products to Europe. 

The company’s CEO, Christian Eyde Moeller, head of global sales, Anita Vogel, and head of European sales, Caren Ashcke, tell us these products are gluten- and soy-free and packed with essential amino acids and minerals. 

The executives predict the organic food market will grow as consumers demand sustainable, transparent, and nutrient-dense options. “We expect a rise in allergen-friendly products, innovative sweetener alternatives, and eco-conscious brands that genuinely care about their impact. It’s all about trust, quality, and creating a better future — and we’re proud to be part of that shift.”

“Consumers are increasingly seeking sustainable, natural, and allergen-friendly foods,” adds the team. “Our 100% natural products meet this demand — rich in nutrients, free of unnecessary additives, and crafted with sustainability in mind.”

Moreover, Lionheart Farms Philippines Corporation will feature its organic Aminos — a soy sauce alternative — mild coconut vinegar and low-glycemic vegan syrup at booth 1-503. 

Tradin Organic will present its ongoing sustainable coconut sugar project at the expo. The company recently received a three-year grant to enhance the working environment for an estimated 2,275 Indonesian farmers and their households.

Dutch-based snack developer and producer The Impulse Factory will present its “guilt-free” snacks with bold flavors, clean ingredients, and a health-conscious focus at stand 5-121. 

For example, the company features its FavaFit Peanut Rings at Biofach’s Novelty Stand. These plant-based snacks are made with high-protein fava beans, are free from artificial additives, and have an “exceptional taste.”
