Asiros Develops New Patented Technology for Bioactive Berry Powders

06 May 2016

06 May 2016 --- To increase the standard of berry powders and meet the requirements of the consumers, Asiros has developed the patent-pending BERRYSHIELD berry powder processing technology.

Berries contain multitudes of health promoting compounds desired by consumers to boost the amount of healthy nutrients in the daily diet. For the industry, high quality and trustworthy berry products containing the bioactive components in the advertised levels are a must.

Berry powders produced with the BERRYSHIELD Technology have an increased diversity of berry nutrients and a unique protection of bioactive compounds such as polyphenols including flavonoids.

There is an increasing demand for healthy products that are as close to the natural, raw-food state as possible.

BERRYSHIELD powders offer a multitude of healthy, tasteful, colorful berry nutrients packed in a uniquely protective matrix as if they were still in the raw berry, ideal for both direct consumption, health supplements and as food & beverage ingredients.

BERRYSHIELD powders have an increased diversity of berry nutrients and the protection of bioactive compounds – thanks to BERRYSHIELD processing technology – offers a new competitive edge.

The patented solvent-free technology protects the berry compounds during processing, and the result is a range of highly stable berry powders. The BERRYSHIELD Technology renders improved and durable taste and color, reduced oxidative degradation with increased heat and pH-resistance, also in finished product processing.

All BERRYSHIELD powders are free from maltodextrin, gluten, dairy, soy, colorings, flavorings and artificial sweeteners and can be used in a wide range of applications.

BERRYSHIELD Technology can be applied to all types of berries and 5 powders are currently available: tart cherry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, elderberry and strawberry, and the range will continually be expanded with new berry-powders.

Asiros works exclusively with European sourced berries, the supply chain is secured to the field with contracted farmers and the production is managed in industrial scale by Asiros. The company states that control of the production chain combined with UltraProfile proprietary triple analytical technology guarantees the highest quality of the products. UltraProfile provides a significantly more complex characterization of the content at the molecular level than previously possible by a novel combination of spectroscopic methods including the highly advanced q-TOF. Therefore, by applying UltraProfile analysis to the BERRYSHIELD products, Asiros affirm that they are setting a new standard for quality control of natural products.
