06 May 2016 --- Following the positive results obtained in sports support, new data demonstrates the potentially interesting effect of Indena’s Meriva in muscular mass maintenance.
A recent registry study, published in the European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences, demonstrates that the addition of Indena’s bioavailable curcumin formulation – Meriva – to a regimen of standardized diet and exercise contributes to improve strength and physical performance in healthy elderly subjects, helping maintaining the muscular mass.
At three months, intergroup comparison also revealed a statistical advantage in all parameters for both supplementation groups compared with the standard managementonly group (p < 0.05 for all comparisons).
Pharmacokinetic comparison studies have shown Meriva to improve the overall curcuminoids bioavailability by about 30-fold, and significant absorption benefits; in particular,r demethoxycurcumin (the most potent curcuminoid in numerous bioassays) was found to be 50-fold more bioavailable as compared to a non-formulated curcumin extract.
