Lucy Gunn for nutrition insight at Vita Foods 2017 and I'm at the Native Farmer stand with Eric Anderson.
Eric, would you please explain to us what is Native Farmer showcasing this year?
Great, thanks, Lucy.
Thank you for inviting me here to this video.
Not a pharma are the pioneers in vitamin K2, as Lennequinone said.
We are the company that created the awareness of vitamin K2, and we've done this through backing research, research studies from, primary studies through human studies, and what we have shown is.
Populations that consume a lot of vitamin K2 naturally have stronger bones and healthy hearts that adding manicure 7 as a dietary supplement on a daily basis and healthy populations, including children, can improve markers of bone health and in fact can also improve outcomes, preserving bone strength and mass and keeping arteries flexible.
OK, great.
Would you be able to tell us a little bit more about, the market demands for your products?
What sort of audience are you targeting consumers?
So it's now recognized in the medical literature that we get quite adequate calcium in our diets in the West.
And there is some concern that putting too much calcium in the diet, so on top of dairy products and orange juice with calcium and cereals with calcium and adding supplements can become problematic.
The body has a lot of calcium but doesn't have the ability to put the calcium where you want it in the bones and keep it out of the arteries.
Vitamin K2, the menoquinones, are the most active form of vitamin K2, activating proteins, proteins that put calcium in the bones where you want it and keeping it out of the arteries where you don't want it.
And because the science now is immutable, we see the market doubling in Europe every year.
Would you maybe be able to enlighten us on future native farmer products or research?
What's very exciting is that we've published 16 human studies and we have several pending publications in healthy populations looking for kids' health, bone health, and heart health.
But what's amazing is now the science is going beyond us.
We are in 3 clinical studies in patients with existing calcification in their arteries, and the traditional medical community is funding these studies.
They're giving these patients MQ7 vitamin K2 as the active pharmaceutical.
So we can't make claims about this with EFSA, but we can certainly show the mechanism is true in healthy people and in people who are very prone to calcifications.
So the only thing in nature that inhibits calcification of the arteries and soft tissues is vitamin K2.
When do you think will be hatching on to this?
Has shown a real resistance to embracing science.
We can ask our friends and other ingredients this, but we are actively submitting data and in communications with them.
We'd really love to see, in addition to the bone claim for vitamin K, we'd love to see a cardiovascular claim for vitamin K2, 7.
Thank you very much.
You're very welcome.
