Vitafoods Europe 2024 live: Kerry’s CEO Europe discusses industry trends and postbiotic launch
16 May 2024 | Kerry Group
At this year’s Vitafoods Europe, Kerry Group is focusing on nutritional solutions to health concerns that do not compromise on taste. Thomas Ahlinder, CEO and president for Europe, highlights some of the main market trends the company is targeting, including in the digestive, cognitive, immune and infant health spaces. Ahlinder also spotlights Kerry’s launch of a postbiotic for gut and skin health.
Hello everybody.
This is William Bradford Nichols, the editor of Nutrition Insight, and I am here today live at Vita Foods Europe in Geneva, Switzerland with Thomas Eiliner, the CEO of Care Europe.
Hello, Thomas, how are you today?
Hello there.
Thank you very much.
I'm doing extremely and I'm absolutely delighted to be here at Vita Foods today.
You guys have a very busy booth today, as you can see by the fact that we have so much traffic, which isn't a bad thing, but we're going to make it work, and I appreciate you talking with us.
I have some questions already lined up for you, and if it's OK, I'd like to just jump right in.
Absolutely.
Feel free to fire on.
So can you tell me a little bit about what Kerry's main focus is for the show so far this year?
This year the focus for us is to continue building on our vision of inspiring food and nourishing life and driving a sustainable nutrition agenda.
So here today we are broadcasting with a special focus on supplements, building on our five key health platforms and doing that while showing examples of products, solutions for our customers to overcome their challenges.
And doing that with nutritious solutions without compromising on taste.
It's amazing.
Can you tell me about some of the main trends you're highlighting this year and why they are important and how Kerry is meeting those market demands?
Some of the trends that we are really focusing on is around digestive health, cognitive health, immune health, infant health, and those trends have been there for quite some time.
And we keep on working, driving our scientific agenda with clinically backed ingredients to work and cooperate with our customers solutions to address those challenges in the marketplace.
We know that Kerry is always innovating.
Can you tell me about your recent innovations you're most excited about today?
This year I'm absolutely delighted to share.
We have a lot of innovations coming out of our science agenda.
But this year we're actually here at Vita Foods launching our plentibiotics, which is a rice deride postbiotic that is a part of our digestive health platform supporting gut health and skin health, and that is something where we see a growing consumer awareness.
So it's actually on trend in that sense.
Speaking of trends, can you tell us a little bit about What sort of emerging trends you see coming in the future and how do you plan on responding to those?
So the way I look at it is, let's say many of those trends around cognitive, digestive, immune, infant have been there for a while and will remain for many years to come.
We have so many things still to work on here.
For us that means that we're going to be heavily investing, continue investing into that scientific clinically backed agenda that we've been driving over the last couple of years for the last couple of years.
Can you give us a little bit more of a glimpse into what we can expect from Kerry at 24, 2025, and beyond?
I hope what you can expect.
Kerry in the coming years is what we showcase here.
Kerry will be a part of shaping the agenda of driving more sustainable, nutritious solutions for consumers across the world, here in Europe or any other areas, and we will take our opportunity to play a leading role here in shaping the agenda.
