NPEW 2025: BioCell Technology features collagen innovation tailored for sensory performance

20 Mar 2025 | BioCell Technology

At Natural Products Expo West (NPEW) 2025, Douglas Jones, global sales and marketing manager at BioCell Technology, showcased the company’s patented BioCell Collagen for joint and skin health based on a matrix of collagen type II, chondroitin sulfate, and hyaluronic acid. In a new gummy concept, the supplier spotlighted its BioCell Collagen ERP (Extra Refined Palatable), designed for sensory delivery.

This is Yolande van Hal Nutrition Insight.

I'm here at Natural Products Expo West with Douglas Jones, who is the global sales and marketing manager at Bioell Technology.

Thank you for joining us today.

It's my privilege.

I'm so glad to see everyone.

And can you tell us what your focus is at Expo West this year?

Here at Expo West, we are actually handing out samples of our new Bioell gummy.

We've had this produced for us, Biocell about last year.

We introduced Biocell ERP that is for extrasensory perception or extrasensory products, so it is developed especially for products like gummies, where taste is such an important consideration.

And with biocell collagen we're able to get 500 mg in one gummy for one dose.

Awesome, and I'd love to hear a bit more about this biocell collagen ERP for sensory delivery system.

What inspired that development?

We've been working a lot with a lot of our customers.

I know gummies have become a really big part of the dietary supplement market worldwide, and bio cell collagen, because of the matrix of, of, of hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin sulfate, the chondroitin sulfate is actually a salt, and so we were running into salt, you know, salty products.

And if you can imagine, a salty gummy is not what somebody wants to have in their medicine cabinet.

OK, and I'm curious if you can tell us a bit about the research that has been done on the health benefits of your collagen and what the findings were.

With bio cell collagen, you know, our Our history and this entire brand and being a product that's made from cartilage is our history has been in joint health, and we've got clinical evidence and have had clinical evidence on joint health for many years and many consumers around the world take this product for that condition.

Skin health.

We had a clinical study that was published a couple of years ago where we actually saw a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and actually an increase in skin collagen content, so people were seen for that healthy glow.

And now I think we're looking for some more confirmation research in this area and then also looking into some other new areas for bio cell collagen.

That we'll hopefully have some information to share in the near future.

Looking forward to that and we're just looking at the industry as a whole.

Where do you see that heading and what trends do you expect will increase?

I think this is particularly true coming out of the pandemic.

You know, people were really looking for lifetime wellness solutions during the pandemic and even afterwards, you know, immune health, stress.

Sleep have all been, you know, big areas of concern and naturally in certain areas of the world right now, stress and sleep is still a major area of concern, but really I think consumers are looking for lifetime wellness solutions.

What's going to going to be able to keep them active, you know, in their 30s, their 40s, 50s, and as they age.

My mother is 90.

She still tries to, she still thinks she can do everything that she used to do at 70.

We just need to remind her to slow down a little bit.

But I think you know for anyone in that, particularly that older generation are looking to just, you know, maintain their lifestyle and they try and do that with good lifetime wellness solutions.

Awesome.

And what can we expect from biopsychology in the future?

I think it's, I'm at least what I'm seeing, you know, in terms of the R&D lab.

I'm seeing some new delivery forms, you know, you know, some other sensory delivery forms, not necessarily all in gummies, and so, you know, we're, we're having some meetings here.

So hopefully that'll lead to some new products that'll be here, you know, introduced in the marketplace next year at Expo West in 2026.

Awesome, thank you so much.

Thank you.
