Founded in 1995, Layn has been advancing its innovative ingredients for over two decades and has pioneered the plant-based functional extracts and high potency sweetener ingredients. At HiE in Frankfurt, the company presented its newest innovations and ingredients in botanicals. Speaking to NutritionInsight, Luca Pennestri says: “We did start out as a botanical ingredients company, but then turned more to natural sweeteners. Now we have gone back to our roots, so we have started new projects on botanical ingredients, mainly with different aims including clean label. Some of the aims we are working in the direction of include developing natural preserves in flavor, shelf life, antioxidants and so on, and we are identifying the full functionality of these ingredients. In 2019, we will be launching different lines.”
