Marine microalgae for metabolic disease prevention

Goncalo Real, Communications Director at Algalenic Labs spoke to NutritionInsight at Nutraceuticals Europe 2019 in Madrid, Spain on the company's microalgae ingredients. “We produce chlorella in Porto Santo island, where the ingredient gets all the purity of the Atlantic ocean,” Real says. “We use this ingredient to produce health supplements and supplements targeting sports nutrition. We also have products like shakes and protein powders, which all have microalgae as the base ingredient.” The major area that Real sees a lot of consumer interest in is related to metabolic disease and anything to do with diabetes, heart health and sugar or cholesterol levels, which are the areas Algalenic Labs' ingredients cover.
