Lubrizol Life Science has developed an iron-fortified gummy prototype, which contains water-dispersible microencapsulated iron. The solution addresses the most common formulation challenges of iron discoloration, off-flavors and reduced bioavailability. Lipofer microcapsules are claimed to be 3.5 times more bioavailable than ferric pyrophosphate and 2.7 times more than ferrous sulfate.
