Biofach 2025: Blue Sky Botanics unveils ingredient innovations for gut health and cosmetics
04 Mar 2025 | Blue Sky Botanics
Blue Sky Botanics recently launched a Baobab Fruit Purée together with Baobab Exports. At the recent Biofach trade show, Daniel Jones, the company’s head of the Food and Beverage division, highlighted its high dietary fiber content, gut health benefits, and versatile applications across food and beverages, such as smoothies, ice creams, and dairy products. He also introduced the company’s clinically proven range of four cosmetic ingredients, PhytaPure Pro, based on baobab, an herbal blend, resurrection bush, and silver cluster leaf.
This is Yolanda Kal from Nutrition Insight.
I'm here at BOA 2025 with Daniel from Blue Sky Botanics, who is the company's head of food and beverage.
Thank you for joining us today.
You're very welcome.
I'm just wondering, what are you showcasing here at Biofa.
So we're really excited to be at BeerA this year.
We've just launched, Blue Sky Botanics have just launched a baobab puree, baobab fruit puree, which is perfect for the food and beverage world.
And we've also got a clinically proven range for our cosmetic world as.
Awesome, and I'm really curious to learn more about the baoba puree.
So what can you tell us about the applications, how it's used?
So baobar puree is a fantastic ingredient.
So everyone's probably aware of the powder, but not, not so much in a puree format.
So we've developed this for ease of application into wet applications, so smoothies, juices, ice creams, yogurts, but also it's full of health benefits.
So it's got 11 g of fiber per 100.
So you can get high fiber claims and you can also get saucer fiber claims, and we're just now pushing into the dairy industry.
We've got health being a massive trend with kaffirs and yogurts, so it's a really versatile ingredient.
Awesome, and you've also launched a new cosmetic range.
We have.
What can you tell us about that?
So we've got 4 in our pro range now.
We've got, but the main one here is baobab, which I'm focusing on today.
So we've got a clinically proven cosmetic range of 4 different cosmetic products.
Awesome.
And how do these new products, how do they cater to different dietary needs or different, like consumer trends, for example?
Yeah, so as I mentioned, on the boat, if we could jump back to the baba puree, massive in the gut health section.
So if you can use this at half the dosage and it's compared.
Inuliner as opposed to just gut health, so it's the full microbiome of your, of your body.
So yeah, really good, you can eat it straight out of the jar, it's, it's got a sort of sherbetty grapefruit, slight mangoy flavor, but so it can be used for flavor but it can also be used for function and that health and wellness category.
Awesome.
And what can you tell us about future plans, like new product development, new markets you want to get into?
So we're always, always working on product development.
That's something we're really passionate about, Blue Sky.
So we've got plans in the pipeline to extend our cosmetic range and extend our pro range for that clinically proven, and we're also deep diving into.
The dairy category, so that is ice creams and mainly kaffir.
Kaffir is really good for gut health anyway, so if we boost that even further with the fibers from the baobab, then we've got a perfect product for your gut.
And it also ties into the whole UPF movement and ultra clean label, so it's a super, super product for that.
Awesome, thank you so much.
