Yogurt promotes weight loss- study
Low fat dairy foods as part of a reduced-calorie diet could offer an additional boost to make weight loss efforts easier.
18/03/05 In a new study to be published in the April issue of the International Journal of Obesity, scientists discovered eating yogurt could rev up your body's fat burning ability.
Researchers at the University of Tennessee studied the impact of adding yogurt to a reduced-calorie diet. The Yoplait Light group consumed about 1,100 mg of calcium each day, which included three servings of Yoplait Light yogurt. The yogurt group lost significantly more weight -- an average of 14 more pounds and 66 percent more fat -- during the 12-week study. The yogurt diet also resulted in a loss of 81 percent more stomach fat.
There's growing evidence that low fat dairy foods as part of a reduced-calorie diet can offer an additional boost to make weight loss efforts easier. Yogurt is one of the richest sources of calcium, and three servings a day can help you meet current calcium recommendations.
