Meanwhile, Aurea Biolabs released a new ginger ingredient aiming to improve ingredient bioavailability. In business developments, natural products manufacturer NOW Health Group acquired the naming rights to the Sears Centre Arena in Illinois, US, for the next 15 years. Meanwhile, research endeavors revealed that curcumin supplementation can improve cognition and mood.

Lactalis Nestlé launched a new range of high-protein dairy in the UK specifically designed for regular and hard-core gym enthusiasts. Lindahls PRO delivers a unique 50:50 mix of whey protein and casein protein, which may help to maintain the delicate balance between protein synthesis and the prevention of protein breakdown in the body. Lindahls PRO is available in two flavored pots and two ready-to-drink bottles. Each Nestlé Lindahls PRO pot – available in Strawberry & Lime Pie and Lemon Cheesecake flavors – has a soft and creamy texture, is fat-free, low in sugar and consists of 18 g of protein.

Ginactiv uses the technology to place gingerols between fiber and protein from ginger (polar) and ginger essential oil (non-polar) components to recreate a natural ginger matrix. Aurea states that Ginactiv is 100 percent ginger with three standardized actives, a high level of gingerols along with shogaols and volatile oil.

Viome has launched a health intelligence service to provide new insights into how cellular, mitochondrial, immune system and gut health, as well as stress response and biological age, changes over time. The US-based company says that this is the only service that measures how human, mitochondria and microbial genes are expressed in the body and translates these expressions into actionable health markers. These can then be improved by following Viome’s personalized nutrition recommendations developed using advanced artificial intelligence. 

Sweetener brand Splenda has launched Splenda Diabetes Care Shakes, a new range of three no sugar-added milk shakes designed to help manage blood sugar and support diabetes and prediabetes management. Each shake contains 16 g of high-quality protein, and slow-digesting carbohydrates. Splenda Diabetes Care Shakes are furthermore high in fiber, soy-free, gluten-free and suitable for lactose intolerance.

Fergon Iron Restore is the new chewable tablet from DSE Healthcare Solutions. Featuring an orange flavor, the product also contains the patented, non-constipating ingredient SunActive FE. The tablet is touted as being formulated to offer a new solution for those who don’t like to or can’t swallow pills, or just want their daily supplements to taste good. Additionally, with every purchase, the company will donate a bottle of Fergon classic iron supplements to Operation Blessing, a nonprofit dedicated to providing nutrients, water, medical and disaster relief to those in need.

US-based natural products manufacturer NOW Health Group will take over naming rights to the Sears Centre Arena in Illinois, US, as of September 1. The new NOW Arena contract, valued at US$11.25 million over the term, is part of a 15-year agreement unanimously approved by the Village of Hoffman Estates and Spectra, the providers of Venue Management and Partnerships at Sears Centre Arena. 

E-commerce platform Grove Collaboration has acquired Sundaily, which specializes in ingestible skincare. Over the past three years, Grove Collaborative has launched its own brands of home and personal care products, including lines of tree-free paper, laundry care and vitamins. This latest expansion into ingestible skincare signals Grove Collaborative’s continued focus on and expansion of its wellness portfolio. 

AIDP is now the exclusive distributor of New Zealand-based Keraplast Natural Innovation’s ingredients for the US and Canadian supplement markets. The product offerings use Functional Keratin technology across a range of personal care, health care, nutritional and industrial applications. Keraplast has secured more than 180 patents in 32 patent families. Additionally, DFK-Glow, a bioactive second generation ingestible product targeting nails, hair and wrinkles, is being launched. 

Fergon Iron Restore is touted as being formulated to offer a new solution for those who don’t like to or can’t swallow pills.Plant protein specialist Roquette has obtained Low FODMAP certification from the Monash University, Australia, for its Nutriose soluble fiber range. Monash University research showed that IBS symptoms improved in three out of four people that followed a low fermentable oligosaccharides disaccharides monosaccharides and polyols (FODMAP) diet. The fiber ingredient comes from plant-based sources, which aims to support balanced intestinal health. The certification allows Roquette to continue to respond to the growing consumer demand for healthy and safe food ingredients promoting digestive wellness.

In brief: Research and study
Supplements company HempFusion will participate in ValidCare’s scientific study that addresses the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s previous questions about cannabidiol (CBD) products. ValidCare will be conducting a human trial and study to determine if daily use of full-spectrum hemp-derived CBD or CBD isolate has any impact on the human liver. ValidCare expects the study to begin and be finalized between the last two quarters of the year. The third-party scientific data generated from the companies participating in this study is intended to address some of the FDA's specific requests about CBD products. HempFusion is also one of ten CBD companies sponsoring the study.

Supplementation with Longvida Optimized Curcumin produced by Verdure Sciences has shown positive results in cognition and mood in a new study conducted at the Swinburne University, Australia. At four and 12 weeks of Longvida supplementation at 400 mg per day (containing 80 mg of curcumin), the test participants reported improved working memory and reduced fatigue and stress reactivity in a healthy older cohort. This study replicates the findings from a 2014 study producing the similar results within comparable parameters, the researchers highlight.

A new study published in the journal Antioxidants found that the combination of TriNutra’s ThymoQuin, a cold-pressed black cumin seed oil standardized to 3 percent thymoquinone, and omega 3 helped to oppose the effects of obesity and markers of insulin resistance. Supplementation combining the two did so by reducing adipocyte hypertrophy-induced inflammation, enhancing AMPK activation, fatty acid metabolism and mitochondrial function as well as reprogramming unhealthy white adipocytes to healthy beige adipocytes. TriNutra underscores that this combination has shown to be “more effective and is likely safer than many other weight management interventions currently available.”
