Vitafoods Asia 2013 to Feature New Exhibitors, Cutting-Edge Products
3 Sep 2013 --- The Asian nutraceuticals industry offers huge potential, with more than half (53 per cent) of consumers in Asia agreeing that supplements are an effective way to support overall dietary intake, compared with a global average of 44 per cent.
Manufacturers are increasingly innovating in order to meet the needs of this highly receptive audience, and this year’s Vitafoods Asia, which takes place 4-5 September at the Asia-World Expo in Hong Kong, showcases the exciting product innovations being launched by new and established Vitafoods exhibitors to engage consumers across Asia. The increasing desire to tap into this booming region is underlined by more than 60 brand new exhibitors from countries across the world, including Israel, India, Germany, New Zealand and Belgium, exhibiting at Vitafoods Asia.
Among these new exhibitors is AromaNZ, which has exhibited at Vitafoods Europe for the last 13 years and is aiming to seize opportunities offered by the Asian event for the first time this year. Significant investment and innovation is occurring in omega-3 across ASEAN and AromaNZ is demonstrating this at Vitafoods Asia, showcasing its GlycOmega-PLUS green-lipped mussel extract, which has been clinically tested to reduce joint pain and increase joint mobility in patients with osteoarthritis.
Sports nutrition is also a significant growth area, with many companies increasingly focusing on developing attractive products for amateur athletes, as well as professionals. Brand new exhibitor Winclove is presenting its Ecologic Peformance product, a multispeices probiotic that is aimed at endurance sportspeople and shown to reduce gastrointestinal complaints, such as diarrhoea and cramp, which these athletes often face.
The international pavilions enable visitors to find exactly what they need and to target exhibitors from specific regions. These also showcase innovations from first-time exhibitors, with the Malaysian Pavilion including Swiftlet Garden, which presents the anti-cancer potential of scientifically formulated bird’s nest extract; and Biotropics Malaysia Berhad, which showcases its main Physta ingredient, a patented freeze-dried extract of eyrycoma longifolia root, which combats stress and infertility.
“The Asian nutraceuticals industry is packed with innovation and rich with opportunity. It’s exciting to see so many new exhibitors either at their first Vitafoods event, or their first Vitafoods Asia, showcasing the latest cutting-edge nutraceutical ingredients and products,” says Vitafoods Asia Portfolio Director Chris Lee.
