VidaCap launches “first of its kind” mushroom gummies for immunity and brain fog
08 Nov 2021 --- US-based VidaCap has launched its Myco Immune Gummies, aimed at boosting immunity and improving focus. The supplement industry for natural products such as mushrooms is quickly growing, the company notes.
“Ten years from now, our goal is that people will be reaching for natural mushroom extract supplements rather than over-the-counter medications,” VidaCap spokesperson Jonathan Kane says.
A functional ingredient
Myco Immune Gummies are purported to be one of the first of its kind across the supplement industry, the company notes. The product is made from VidaCap’s Mycomatrix blend, containing extracts from Reishi, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, Lion’s Mane and Maitake mushrooms.
These species of fungi are believed to help boost the body’s immune system and could potentially help with mental focus and a phenomenon that many refer to as “brain fog,” Kanes notes.
“The benefits of functional mushrooms are extraordinary. Nowhere else in the natural world can you find such an extensive range of active compounds that support brain and immune health,” he highlights.
Growing popularity
Across the US and the West, functional mushrooms are becoming more popular, as consumers are turning toward a natural approach in matters regarding immune health, focus and energy, VidaCap notes.
“For people suffering from things like fatigue, lack of energy, and brain fog - or for those that are just looking for a potent immune boost - mushrooms are 100% worth looking into. They’re natural, they’re very affordable and most importantly - they work,” Kane states.
The use of mushrooms for immunity has seen a growing demand over the past 30 years in North America, Kääpä Biotech CEO Eric Puro previously told NutritionInsight. In line with the growing market, the company last year reached a distribution agreement with Nutralliance.
Functional mushrooms are also being used for mushroom coffee blends, with NeonMind Biosciences producing its own blend. Growing popularity has been linked to immune support and energy-boosting qualities.
Unibar also launched Maitake Pt78, an immunomodulating mushroom extract, available as a chew, gummy, drop, capsule, tablet, effervescent and ready-to-drink format.
The demand for medicinal mushrooms for immunity and wellness has been attributed to growing consumer education, in line with a clean label evolution across the industry space.
Innova Market Insights noted that clean label consumer demand is a Top Trend for 2021, with three in five global consumers saying that they are interested in “learning more about where their food comes from and how it is made.”
